Ann Arbor Sportscar is pleased to offer for your consideration a very rare GHD3-series 1967 MGB-GT in original unrestored conditon. This car had been sitting inside the previous owner's garage for the last 10 years. We recently replaced the fuel tank, changed the sparkplugs, ignition coil, and basic tune-up parts - and the car fired right up on fresh gasoline. This car starts with a turn of the key, runs nicely at idle and does not smoke. It runs and drives around the parking lot alright - but mechanically, this car is very tired and ready for a complete mechanical overhaul and sympathetic restoration. This steel-dash early MGB-GT is a rare find these days in original unmolested condition. This is a car that the new owner can own and drive while restoring it to its former glory.
Bodywork and Paint: This MGB-GT began its 50-year journey to 2017 painted in the original color of Mineral Blue, wich is very evident behind the dash panel and in the rear hatch area. We understand that the car was resprayed the current medium-blue color about 12 years ago. The present amatuer paint job is poor to fair with plenty of orange-peel. There are numerous scrapes and scratches in the paint. This car is a genuine 20-footer. The exterior body panels are nice and straight with very minimal past body work. We ran a small magnet all over the exterior skin of the car and cannot find many bondo repairs. The front fenders are solid at the lower areas where they attach to the outer rockers. We did locate bondo body filler in the "nose" areas of both front fenders inboard of the headlamps and above the front parking lamps. Perhaps the car had been bumped at some point in the past? The rear fenders are also very solid - there is no bondo in the lower dogleg areas or above the wheel openings. We detetced some bondo in the very back tail sections of the rear fenders right below the tail lamps. The bonnet is the proper lightweight aluminum type which is very straight with no warping. The outer rocker panels are steel with some bondo filler at the LH rear fender dogleg. The original steel front lower valence has been replaced with a fiberglas chin spoiler.
Chromed Bumpers, Trim and Grille: Both the front and rear bumper bars and all four bumper overiders are in very good solid original condition. The chrome plating is still very shiny and has good luster with only minimal pitting and some light scratches. There is some light surface rust on the rear overiders. There is one divot in the front bumper bar. The grille is in excellent condition. All the car's stainless steel and chromed body trim is present and accounted for.
Undercarriage: Generally, the undercarriage is very solid considering that it's a 50-year old MGB. Both main frame rails are in excellent condition. It appears that a previous owner had replaced the castle rails on both sides of the car. (Please refer to the photos of the undercarriage for details). There is some surface rust under the car. The rear spring attachment areas are all very solid and rust-free. The worst rust that we found under the car is corrosion in the frame cross member. We tried to capture the worst areas in a photo.
Interior: The seats are not the original equipment low-back seats originally found in this model year car. Rather, these appear to be later-style early 1970's velour-covered MGB-GT seats. The steel dash panel is intact but a non-original ammeter has been added just to the left of the fuel gauge and the BMC radio is missing. All the carpet and interior trim and kick panels are in place, but everything is showing its age and most of it is ready for a complete refurbishment. The only dash gauge that presently functions with any credibility is the tachometer.
Engine and Driveline: The 1798cc B-series engine that is presently in this car is not the original block specification - the 18GB series engine has been replaced by a 18V series of early 1970's vintage. If the buyer would like a 18GB bare engine block, we will gladly supply a free one with the purchase of this car at our full asking price. The stock twin SU HS4 carburetors have been replaced with a single Weber downdraft carburetor and a Weber intake manifold. There is a non-original cast iron tubular header exhaust manifold. There is an alloy valve cover. As previously stated, this car fires right up on the first crank of the starter - and does not smoke. We have not performed a compression test. The transmission is the standard 4-speed non-synchromesh gearbox, as is the Salisbury-type tube axle rear differential.

Please remind your car hauler that this is a small sportscar and therefore it has a narrower track than most contemporary vehicles so it must be moved with a flatbed trailer or a car trailer with narrow wheel rails (or the car might fall in between).
