Rare and desirable coupe version of this iconic classic British sports car. A life-long California car with an exceptionally nice, straight, and totally rust-free body featuring a gleaming, recent, quality re--paint.
This car had a total ground up professional restoration performed in 1999 by British Automotive in Novato, Calif. The restoration included a complete mechanical overhaul including brakes, chassis & suspension, and total engine & transmission rebuild.
Many performance enhancements were incorporated in the restoration including lightening and balancing the internal engine components, over-bore to 1924CC, forged pistons & rods, an aluminum alloy cylinder head with aluminum roller rocker assembly, an Elgin road race cam, and a Mikuni 44 PHH carb., (same design as a Weber), electronic ignition and exhaust header. The compression ratio is 9.5:1.
The rebuilt 4 speed trans, has the highly desirable, rare, electric overdrive and was coupled with a lightened & balanced fly wheel & heavy duty clutch & pressure plate.
The radiator was rebuilt with double cooling rows & thermostatically controlled dual electric cooling fans. A new wiring harness was installed and all new hydraulic lines were installed as well as all braided hoses for brakes, fuel & oil and a new oil cooler.
New brake calipers with performance pads & slotted rotors were installed on front.
Suspension & steering had all new urethane bushings installed. Handling is enhanced by lowering ride height, addition of a 7/8" front sway bar & a rear Panhard bar, installation of mono-leaf composite rear springs and conversion to tubular gas shocks, front and rear.
The car rides on Knockoff Panasport alloy wheels fitted with Michelin tires. The interior was redone in supple black leather upholstery. Since restoration the car has been driven only for pleasure and stored in a climate controlled garage. The signals and wiring were recently overhauled to make it street-ready. Undoubtedly one of the finest performing and handling MG-B's you could ever experience. The engine compartment & complete undercarriage are nicely detailed.
The 1970 MGB-GT was designed by Pininfarina (designer of the Ferrari, Maserati) and this mostly logo-less, beautiful yellow example is a real head turner.
There is a small dent in the driver's side door that could be rolled out easily.
Starts instantly, runs beautifully, is an absolute blast to drive and is a real head-turner.
Sold in 'as is" condition.
Brand new owners manual included.
