1969 MG C -- Additional Info:
1969 MG C ROADSTER --Red with Black leatherette interior and Black Convertible Top. 47,000 miles. 2,912cc incline 6 cylinder, 4-speed manual transmission with Overdrive. 1,000 miles on rebuilt engine. The MG C was a 2912 cc, straight 6-cylinder version of the MGB sold from 1967 and produced until August 1969. In the twin SU carbureted form used in the MGC the engine produced 145 bhp at 5250 rpm. The body shell needed considerable revision around the engine bay and to the floor pan, but externally the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a teardrop for carb clearance. It had different brakes from the MGB, 15 inch wheels, a lower geared rack and pinion and special torsion bar suspension and telescopic dampers. Like the MGB, it was available as a coupé (GT) and roadster. An overdrive gearbox or three-speed automatic gearbox were available as options. The car was capable of 120 mph and a 0–60 mph time of 10.0 seconds. The MGC was cancelled in 1969 after less than two years of production, today the car is considered very collectible. This MGC Roadster having been in the same owner ship for over 25 years was partially restored around 2001. The work included any necessary bodywork, fresh paint, fresh suspension, new interior and some minor engine refreshing. The work was performed by qualified restoration and mechanical facilities fluent in vintage automobile restoration. The cars condition is excellent and having been completed in 2001, the C’s condition is a testament to the workmanship. Sold in 2012 to is most recent owner, it was decided that the MGC restore the C’s mechanicals. The engine was pulled and shipped to Alderman Automotive in New Castle, Delaware where the engine and carburetors were rebuilt in total. While the engine was out, the braking system was overhauled with new dual remote master cylinder, vacuum booster and stainless lines. The clutch and throw out bearing was replaced and transmission and overdrive refreshed at this time. Having been driven locally during the summer season, this MGC has been traded toward another automobile from our inventory. It represents great value and fun for the money and is an excellent useable example of a true British Sports car.
