1979 MG MGB Convertible Additional Info:
Up for auction is my brothers 1979 MGB. The car sports the sought after wire wheels and hard top options. She will need at some point a new soft top and carpet kit but I'm willing to have those professionally installed before the car is picked up / transported if the high bidder agrees to pay actual costs for parts and labor. A new soft top and new carpet kit will run $850 total including parts and labor. Soft top would be tan with the zip out rear window and the carpet kit would be black. I will make every effort to detail everything about the car so all interested will be fully informed prior to bidding. This is you chance to get a straight forward MGB well below the current market value. Make no mistake she is selling to the highest bidder. The car runs great. Starts right up with no issues, noises or smoke at this time. Clean and tidy engine bay. Engine holds good oil pressure when warm at idle. The car was just serviced with new ignition wires, plugs, oil change and oil filter. Other recent items include: Upgraded DVG 2 barrel carburetor electronic ignition, new brake booster and new brake master cylinder. Transmission shift up / down and through all the gears with no issues. At this time I know of no mechanical needs for the car. She runs GREAT.
Note: Previous owner stated to my brother that the engine was rebuilt about 4K miles ago. While he has no documentation of the work, visually the engine looks to have been gone through and she sure runs like new. Just my observations / opinion.
Exterior:The car shows well in the photos and presents herself well in person. Does need a few things but still very straight car. Car sports the wire wheel option with like new tires and a hard top. Note: If you don't know these cars you should know converting her to wire wheels costs in parts alone nearly $1800 for 5 wire wheels and the conversion kit. Hard Top: Car comes with the hard top as seen in the photos. Soft Top: Have the complete soft top frame and can / willing to have a NEW Tan soft top with zip out rear window installed prior to pick up / transport of the car. Top would be professionally installed / fitted and buyer pays actual parts and labor Figure around $500 give or take. Can install a black soft top if you desire that color. Electrical's: This area is in very good condition. The front / rear running lights work, front / rear turn signals work, front / rear side markers work, headlights work, brake lights work, back up lights work, wipers work, blower fan works, horns work, licence plate lights work and the stereo works. Note: I'm willing to upgrade the stereo for $50 if the buyer wishes it done after the sale Gauges: All gauges are correct "Smith" brand.
Interior: Overall driver quality condition. Seats, Door panels and dash look good. In need of carpet. New Carpet: I can have a new complete Black carpet kit professionally installed after the sale if the buyer wants. Figure around $350 total parts and labor. Trunk: The trunk is solid with spare tire, wire wheel and knock off tool. Underbody: I've only been under the car once and she looks pretty darn solid from what I saw. The floors look very solid from the inside as seen in the photos. Shipping:If you need to have the car shipped to your location here in the states you can get a fast and free online quote from Able Auto Transport at:http://www.ableautotransport.com/ Overseas Bidders:Yes the auction is open to overseas bidders and if you need to ship overseas try Schumacher Cargo Logisticsshipping for fast free quotes ( http://www.schumachercargo.com/ ).
In Closing: The above description is my observations / opinions and they very from person to person so ask all questions prior to bidding. If I have missed anything in the cars description it was not my intention so please ask for as much detail as you need to make an informed decision on the car prior to bidding. Don't want the winning bidder saying afterwards well you missed this or that. Be a responsible bidder and ask all questions prior to bidding. If I missed anything it was not my intention. Not an expert and trying to describe her as fair and accurate as possible. I'm not an expert and my opinion of the car may vary from yours so please look at the photos closely and if you need more information or any extra photos please ask prior to bidding. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see and drive the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. She's nice driver quality car so you should expect a 40 year old car when she arrives at your home. Due to the cars age and having no way to warranty the car I'm selling her as in "as is" condition and mileage exempt. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auctions end. No exceptions on sending the required $500 deposit.
