1984 Mercury Lynx L Additional Info:
Up for sale is my 1984 Mercury Lynx L 2 door coupe. Just 48,300 original miles. I bought the car on eBay in 2008 when gas prices hit $4 a gallon. These cars can get over 30 mpg or more. The car is an original rust-free Texas car - the only area of any corrosion was the spare tire well due to water leakage while still in Texas. I had the spare tire well replaced by the body shop - it holds a space-saver spare not a full-sized spare. The car has been in continuous indoor storage since I bought it. It's an original AC-equipped, 4 speed manual car with power steering and manual brakes. Title is on hand. The car is now stored in central Wisconsin.
The car ran perfectly when I bought it. I decided to upgrade the car from a Mercury Lynx L to a for Escort GT Turbo - and began the restoration process with a local auto restoration shop. The process included complete body work to prep for paint, engine removal, and painting the engine compartment in bright bittersweet (red-orange) a 1980 Mustang color. I also had a rare Escort option, a roof rack, fitted for installation prior to paint.
The car is about 90% complete. My restoration shop lost use of their parts warehouse and somehow lost the hatchback and windshield to the car. He may also have "misplaced" the bumpers - and the rear side glass (though I think those can be located) The car came without the headliner fabric. Otherwise the car is virtually complete - some minor trim pieces may be missing. I'll do my best to make sure you get everything you need - but can't guarantee I can find every single part.
Photos shown are from various stages in the restoration - car doors are now mounted on the car - hood and fenders are finished and ready for paint, but are not on the car.
Also included with the car is a complete interior upgrade from an Escort GL (a really nice interior), a like-new replacement dash pad, and a brand new NOS interior quarter panel liner. Lots of other used parts I pulled from salvage yard Escorts. I'm selling the car because I'm shifting my focus to another restoration project and can't afford the space to work on two cars.
This would make a great project car - especially for the hobbyist who owns a rusty escort and would like a rust-free body for restoration. This is an easy conversion to either a Mercury Lynx RS, or a Ford Escort GT. Available separately NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE is a brand new Ford 1.6 Turbo engine - ask me about it if you are interested.
Winning bidder must pick up the car and all the parts (interior, body panels, trim, etc...) with a week of buying the car. Payment in full due within 72 hours of winning bid. Payment by Paypal only.
Car is sold as is. I can work with your shipper if you need the car shipped. Serious bidders only please.
