1976 Mercury Cougar Additional Info:

Up for auction is a beautiful original 1976 Mercury Cougar XR-7 with 32,550 actual original miles.

Vehicle was purchased new at Gateway Lincoln Mercury in Sheffield Alabama and remained there until June 2024 when the second owner purchased it and brought it up to the east coast.

Vehicle is equipped with a 351 2 barrel windsor, automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, am/fm stereo, 2 tone interior with a split bench front seat with folding armrests, power steering, power brakes, steel styled wheels, 1/4 vinyl top, day /night rear view mirror, dual chrome mirrors, full gauge package.

The original paint is in very good condition showing some patina and flaws but it to nice an original to touch. The lower body panels are solid showing minor SURFACE rust only. The chrome and moldings are in excellent overall condition. One of the upper body molding was just replaced with an original new old stock piece. see pics.

The interior is in pristine original condition.

The 1/4 vinyl top was just replaced with original material. The roof was in perfect condition under the original vinyl top (it was inspected) before replacing the top.

The undercarriage does have surface rust only but it is !00% solid. We could have easily had the undercarriage detailed and reconditioned but we didn't want to alter the originality.

Vehicle has new tires brakes, calipers, brake hoses, battery, fuel sending unit, rebuilt carburetor, muffler and tail pipe.

Vehicle runs and drives extremely well! It is a true pleasure to drive.

All gauges, lights and optional equipment operate properly. The factory air conditioning is completely operational but it blows warm air so the A/C with need to be charged and serviced.
