For sale is a very rare1958MercuryVoyager Station Wagon. Only 2520 of these rolled off of the assembly linein1958and very few exist today. For the 14 years that I have owned and while restoring it and doing much research on this model, I have only found 5 to remain. It rolled off the assembly line in Metuchen NJ on November 8th1957. Presently has 91K miles with 4,000 Miles since it was back on the road after restoration. It traveled across country from New Jersey early in its life and was licensed in 1963 in the state of California as these were the plates that were on the car when I purchased it out of Palm Dale CA. Car had minimal rust when I purchased it and any was cut out and repairs welded back.It has therareMEL family 383ci V8330 Horse Powerengine which packs quite the punchand includes the original large secondary bore carburetor. This model is the 6 passenger version complete with automatic push-button control. This oneruns anddriveswell and was upgraded with Ford Spindles and Rotors along with a modern day dual master cylinder power brake booster. With a little more finishing it isready to cruise the streets American Graffiti style.
This is a 4-door hardtop wagon that has been partially restored off the frame. Some of the major things that have been done are the following: No Fastener was left unturned and restored or if necessary replaced.
- Complete bodywork and painting
- Complete frame refinishing
- Complete suspension, brakes, fuel system, etc redone.
- Nearly all parts have been sandblasted/chemically strippedand repainted.
- Complete enginewith 0.030 overbore / reground cam / transmission overhaul
- Hardened valve seats to accept unleaded gasoline.
- All curved glass is intact and good condition. Only the driver door flat glass has a crack.
- Dual Aluminized Exhaust bent to factory specifications
- 4 Core Radiator – New 4 core installed on original tanks.
- All wiring original and not chopped anywhere
- Electric power rear window that works very well
- New window felts and door seals
- New windshield rubber seal
- 9 Inch Ford rear differential with 2.91 Axle Ratio
- 15 inch aluminum factory ford/Lincoln rims
- All Gauges work
- All suspension bushings replaced and ball joints replaced
- Starts and runs like a dream
- Have lots of manuals and documentation to go with it
Since this is a partially restored car, there are some things that need to be finished in order to be completely restored.Tasksremaining are:
- Interior upholstery (mostly still original with temporary covers over the seats currently) Original uninstalled factory seat skins that were going to be used as a pattern to match the original colors / texture
- ExteriorStainlesstrimpieces(it is allthere, it needs cleaned, polishedand put back on).
The only reason I'm looking to sell is because I just don't have the time and money to finish the restoration, but I want someone to enjoy it as much as my family has over the14 years.
I have hundreds of photos that document every step of the restoration process that covered 3 years. Email me if you would like to see additional pictures or have questions. Thanks!
