Featured in Several TV Shows, Movies & Commercials
This 1950 Mercury Lead Sled has a great life story- it was enjoyed by four lifetime owners before being left to rest in a barn sometime in the 1980’s. The current owners discovered it in 1993 and thought it would be a perfect father-son project to bring it back to life, which began in the summer of 1998 in Southern California. Every inch of this amazing classic has been customized and shaved, cropped, frenched or smoothed- it would literally take weeks to describe all the beautiful modifications. The incredible custom paint was completed by Cal Concepts in Bakersfield, CA and it looks simply incredible in person.
If this 1950 Mercury Lead Sled looks familiar, that’s because it’s been featured in several television shows, commercials and movies throughout the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. The paint and chrome still show at a very high level with only minimal scratches and the body lines on this custom Mercury really stand out in person. The skull-themed interior with two-toned custom leather could virtually pass for new and this is easily one of the nicest examples we’ve come across in decades. Even the engine compartment has custom paint to enhance the “crypt-like” vibe of the build.
Additionally, this 1950 Mercury Lead Sled is a serious performer with excellent acceleration and very nice handling for a larger classic vehicle. The adjustable air ride suspension delivers a softer ride and this one is simply a true pleasure to drive- it needs nothing to be shown off and enjoyed by the next owner right away.
Simply Fantastic Value at the Current Asking Price
Overall, this highly customized 1950 Mercury Lead Sled Coupe is in beautiful, show-quality condition and it would make a great addition to any serious collection. With outstanding curb appeal and some serious performance, the next owner will be able to enjoy this desirable classic for many years to come.
