1969 Mercury Montego MX Additional Info:
Tired of seeing the same old Camaros, Mustangs and GTOs? Want something that you can fully restore for the same price of a crusty old Charger with more rust than metal? Then look no more as up for auction is a rare 1969 Mercury Montego MX in very solid shape for a very easy restoration!
The fastback body lines of this car are just as nice as anything else from the late '60s and the Montego MX is a car rarely seen. If this made into an all black car it will be a show stopper...which is what I was going to do but realize that restoration project is years away and would rather find a 4-speed car rather than convert this automatic. So up for sale at no reserve is my 1969 Montego MX as pictured!
This is a solid car with the exception of the driver floorboard. Underneath is as good as you will find, no rot, no rust thru just one solid frame. Lower 1/4 panels will need a little attention as would be expected but they can be saved with minimal work.
The only other area is at the lower rear window (pictured) but again the rust is minimal for the age. That said, the car has a little damage from a bad driver on the passenger side (pictured) and the trunk has a little dent as well. The lock was bored out of the trunk lid to gain access to the inside (which is in good solid shape)
Driver side door panel is missing, the passenger is intact and in very good shape.
Headliner is in very nice shape however the seam is split on one section to the rear so it will need repair or replacement.
Dash is complete with gauges and original radio and the upper dash pad has no cracks!
Seats are out of another Montego, need to be recovered in my opinion. Rear seat upper is in good shape, lower will need to be recovered.
The engine is a 302 4BBL, carb was in the trunk so engine/trans status is unknown. Engine bay is in great shape, shock towers are solid.
Headlights and grille were in the trunk as well as center console and other pieces pictured.
Nearly $1000 was spent on tires and wheels to make the car mobile, the original wheels are included though they will need some refurbishment.
In all this is a solid car and a more solid investment as the years pass any fastback car from the late 1960s is just going up in value. And this is a great platform for a pain free restoration as the rust is very minimal. And I am offering it with NO RESERVE
I wish I could add more photos but 24 is all that can be uploaded.
This will be sold with a Georgia bill of sale.
I can help with loading or I can deliver if within a reasonable distance for a fee.
Thanks for looking and if you have any questions I will be glad to assist.
