1957 Mercury Monterey Additional Info:
Here is an exceptionally nice 1 family owned 1957 Mercury Monterey 4 door sedan with the optional and desirable 368 4 bbl Turnpike Cruiser engine. This car was purchased in Wallingford CT on 10-24-1957 by a meticulous middle aged woman and it was her pride and joy until she passed away in the mid 1990's. This Mercury was always very carefully driven. After she passed, the car was taken to a Mercury specialist by her children in 1994 for a body-on restoration. From the "before" pictures I saw, the car was in fantastic condition for a New England Mercury. During restoration, the body, interior, brakes, shocks, exhaust, etc were taken care of. The family spent just about $10000.00 dollars on the car and the restorer's labor rate was only $25.00 per hour. I do have his receipts and some "before" pictures. The car has a clear Massachusetts title as the car came to Massachusetts about 20 years ago and was driven a total of about 1000 miles. It still shows the Mass inspection sticker that was put on in 1995. The car currently has 53300 miles on it. The car does not have power steering or power brakes but it does have the optional Turnpike Cruiser 368 engine. This strikes me as the car was bought and driven by a middle aged female! The brake hydraulics were been upgraded to silicone fluid. The car stops great for a car with manual brakes. The car is extremely rust free. I could not believe how solid a New England Mercury could be. The floors and rear quarter panels have never been rusted! I serviced the car, installed a new battery, rebuilt the generator, rebuilt the wiper motor, replaced the fuel tank and sender and put 2 new mufflers on it. I just installed 4 brand new American Classic wide whitewall radials that look like bias ply tires. The Mercury is a pleasure to drive and ride in. There are no disappointments. It is not a number 1 show car but it is a very well kept, turn-key, exceptional driver quality car. It will definitely turn heads when you cruise down the road or pull into your local cruise-in. There are no disappointments with this car. A $500.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of purchase. Payment in full is expected within 7 days.
