1970 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Additional Info:
Hello there fellow classic Cougar and Mercury enthusiasts.
This 1970 Cougar XR-7 will appeal to many, ut will need the love only a few can give her. Are you ready for this? The last of the hideaway headlight Cougars...
She is a real 1970 Cougar XR-7 351C 4V 4 Speed Cat.
She is one of 108 made with this engine /transmission combination in 1970 and she is quite rare.
The pictures tell the real story...
She has had a rough life in Washington, er DSO was Seattle and then eventually made her way down here to Oregon. Just sitting, aiting to pounce in high desert dry storage since 2006.
The factory numbers matching 300hp 351 Cleveland 4V is still in there, s is the original close ratio 4 speed transmission, /font>rear 3.00 differential with a rare competition handling package. Special length driveshaft is included but not shown.
Factory exterior of bright blue metallic paint is a striking contrast to the XR-7 features of black vinyl top and black leather interior.
Factory Hurst shifter handle and chrome shaft are still in there.
This Cougar was not equipped with a console.
She does have tinted glass all around.
Power disc brakes and power steering round out a very fun, imble and fast Cougar with these options.
Now, he work needed done can be seen clearly in the pictures. She needs a roof, he vinyl from the factory rots away and leaves rust holes. I have one at a discounted additional price just for this cougar at WCCC. She will need some panel repairs and floor work as well.
An engine rebuild kit from Summit Racing including camshaft and lifters is in the box shown. The Cleveland still turns over but needs a rebuild. All suspension is solid, he brakes work, nd all other parts shown are included.
The last set of pictures shown are stock internet photos of what she will look like once restored to her original glory.
The Marti report is included with this Cougar purchase as well. A clear Oregon title is included. The tags are for looks.
We can store this Cougar until shipping can be arranged by the new owner at WCCC, e might store it until our open house in August if asked nicely. 1000 deposit via paypal, emainder to be fulfilled within 2 weeks.
This rare Cougar is sold as-is for what it is with what you see. A project car to be rebuilt and enjoyed. no warranty. feel free to stop by WCCC and inspect it first. We would love some company... even if you drive a Mustang...
Happy Bidding and Good Luck, br>Darrell
BTW, hese 1st Gen. Cats are getting rare and valuable.
A very wise investment car indeed.
