1970 Mercury Montego Additional Info:
Well I had initially planned on keeping this car but something has came up. It looks rough but if you can see what you're looking at its not. A basketcase it is although the drivetrain is intact . This car won't be parted so don't ask ! I don't part matching numbers cars that are restorable. This car sat in a barn for the last 28 years on jack stands. It was sanded down to bare metal, some body work was started and for the most part it was painted with red oxide primer and left. It looks rusty but 95% of this car isn't and just has surface rust .
First off it's a 1970 Mercury cyclone gt, competition yellow from factory . 429 thunderjet moto, c6 and nodular 31 spline rear end . All there motor turns over have Not tried to get running . This car appears to have been optioned nicely with the competition yellow pain, rimblo, gauge pod dash, consol, bucket, power disc brakes power steering etc. I have not pulled a Marti report.
I have pretty much everything but the shrou, mirrors and some trim (being a basket case I'm sure there's more but that's the big stuff.
Most of the trim is in decent shape (side tri, hoo, trunk etc, console has no breaks other than the lid which always breaks and I don't have the lid. Nice console other than that . Hideaway grille is all there including the center but is broke in half and not in the greatest shap, gauge pod dashpad is in pretty good shape for its age ( one hairline crack on top and a few indentations ) impossible to find. Seats need redone of course and door panels aren't in the best shape but I have them .
Rus, trunk is near perfec, drop downs pretty nice with passenger having a couple small holes. The entire unibody (frame rails and all torque boxes are perfect on this car with no damage as is the cowl . No rust in cowl! Front floors have some small holes that need patched but tears are perfect . Battery tray of course needs replaced . Doors have very little rus,
Rockers have had repairs and I would look into redoing these, driver quarter was replaced with a nos quarter and is nice . The passenger quarter has been replaced with patches on the lowers this the filler needs redone or finished imo.
I also have multiple doors an extra fender extra taillight panel and rear bumper . Have all parts pretty much .
This is a no reserve auctio, I've tried my best to accurately describe this car . Remember it's a 46 year old project car! No reserve very reasonably priced starting bid. I could part this car for way more but I refuse to do it,
For sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auctio at anytime .
Thanks
