1993 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:
Greetings, and thank you for your interest in this 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300D 2.5 Turbo, which runs on diesel, with bio-diesel possibilities. Automatic transmission, decent odometer mileage, beautiful appearance, great fuel mileage (about 600 miles per tank), and well maintained!
This car drives wonderfully, especially on longer trips. It has been well maintained in its lifetime, and this particular model is highly rated on consumer and auto websites. I am the 3rd owner of this sweet Benz, and have paid a lot of attention to detailing the interior and exterior.
The last owner had dogs, and there is a slight odor that still occurs, but the interior has been detailed and cleaned several times in the last months that I have owned this gem of a car. The smell has decreased, and is easily maskable with a simple car air freshener, and is light to moderate. I have a sensitive nose, and don't notice it when I keep the windows cracked while driving, and am conscious on keeping the interior clean. The trunk space is very clean, as shown in photos.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no leaks. We have had several rainstorms, and the car has driven in heavy rain a few times in the last few months, and luckily, no moisture problems have arisen.
Notice in the photos, the center console arm-rest (leather) has some aging to it, and could use a re-paint or replacement.
The exterior is very nice in most areas, but the original owner left the car in the hot Texas sun. Notice in the photos, there are some areas of light paint chips, and some sun damage. Some of the rubber sealants on the doors and mirrors could use a replacement, but are still functional and keep moisture out. The lug nuts on the wheels have some rust, but I have replacement lug nuts in the trunk, which can be put in on your next tire rotation. Overall, the car looks gorgeous, and garners a lot of compliments and turning heads. This is arguably among the most attractive designs of the Mercedes-Benz lines throughout the ages.
The windows are lightly tinted, but have some areas of scratches from the previous owner's dog. The rearwindow has a light filmy substance, which I started to clean, but I noticed a discoloration in the tint. It would be ideal to have the rear window cleaned and all the windows re-tinted.
All of the interior electric works fine. The windows and seat/mirror adjustments work flawlessly. The radio has a working tape player/AM/FM stereo, and the speaker system is above average quality, with a nice bass sound. I am not sure if the sound system is original or replaced, but it sounds great! The exterior and interior lights, etc. are all in working order. There are light moisture issues occasionally occurring in the rear light covers when it's rainy out.
The car includes new floor mats, a recent oil change, a number of owner and car care manuals in a nice leather binder, a folder of its partial workhistoryand some other relevant paperwork, a clean title, and with very few mechanical needs at the present time. The mechanic indicated that the shocks have a leak; there is not a lack of smoothness when riding over bumps or train tracks, and I have not investigated the severity of this issue.
The mileage is 185,681. That may change very negligibly, as of the date of this original listing, July 14, 2016. It has just been waxed and washed, and I plan to keep it parked unless an emergency were to arise.
