1980 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:
***. ** For sale is this all original, very well preserved 1980 Mercedes Benz 300sd. The car is finished in rarely seen and hard to find Walnut brown. It happens to be equipped with all of the few options that were available that year, which were a sliding power sunroof, full leather interior and lastly, the upgraded Becker Mexico Cassette. The engine is indestructible and running quite well with only 153,150 on the working odometer. I would not hesitate to drive this car to New York. That is how well and dependable it runs. It recently had a valve adjustment and nothing mechanically is needed at this time. Everything works on this car, albeit to varying degrees. Of note is the fact that the clock does tend to run a little slow and needs a reset every 3 days or so. The Becker, which worked perfectly well until a few weeks ago, has developed an odd high pitched whine when you first turn it on and now can only be played at high decibels, so it will need attention, but the radio and even the cassette do play. Finally, the glow plug indicator comes on when you first turn the key but it never goes out until you start the car. Odd, but that is what it does. Other than that, the car is a dream. The turbo works well when you need it and the car can easily cruise at 75 mph, no problem. It is a very roomy and spacious car and the leather seats are in remarkable shape for the age. Headliner, door panels and wood all look great! Tires still have 60-65% tread left. Alloy wheels have not lost their protective coating. The paint is mostly original, except for the hood and fenders which were repainted after a light fender bender, and the original paint does have small nicks and scratches all over, but you must get close to see them clearly. Just a really nice California 300Sd that lacks rust and is in great shape. Please ask any and all questions prior to placing your bid. I reserve the right to end the auction early and to sell to a local party as the car is advertised locally. CALIFORNIA BUYERS: NO SMOG NEEDED, EVER!
