1980 Mercedes Benz 300SD turbodiesel
Virginia inspection good through 8/18
New professionally installed JVC CD player with aux-in and USB in that charges device.
S-class! This Mercedes has all of the best options available at the time and is almost limousine status. It even has individual reading lights behind the rear passenger seats. This 1980 Mercedes 300SD spent most of its life in California before being purchased in 2012 by a bio diesel company in Portland, Maine. The vehicle was used only in the summer as a flagship vehicle and advertising for the company, but then sat undriven for two years before I purchased it in 2014. With a new battery and some brake work I drove it 14 hours straight to Virginia. The beautiful, rare English Red paint turns heads, but could use some touching up. The California sun has faded it unevenly, but I've kept it waxed and it shines great. Two dents (see photos) are very minor. Upgraded wheel package (car special ordered from Germany) with chrome wheels and gold Mercedes center cap highlight the already attractive vehicle.
Interior is stunning white MBTex in great condition. The driver's and passenger's seats were both reupholstered by the previous owner. Included in the sale are custom lambskin floor mats for passenger and rear seats. Previous owner paid over $1000 for these alone. Upgraded CD player replaced original stereo. Speakers were upgraded by previous owner.
177,850 low miles for a diesel! Odometer is accurate and has always functioned properly. Mechanically the vehicle is sound. Starts and runs strong, turbo works great, recently driven on 10+ hour road trip with no issues. Easily gets up to 75 mph and is still quiet in the cabin.
Recent work in the last 3,000 miles includes:
Inspected through 8/18
Oil change
Rear brakes--discs and pads
Two new front tires
Ignition rebuilt, two brand new keys cut by Mercedes headquarters per MB security policy
New battery
Alternator removed and cleaned
Alternator pulley removed and cleaned
Alternator belt
New wiper blades
Pre-glow relay replaced
Fuel tank completely removed and restored
Valve cover gasket
Fuel filter and pre-filter
Battery hold down replaced
Needs improvement:
-AC does not work
-cruise control does not work
-previously mentioned dents (see photos)

This car is a large, safe vehicle for any driver. It is mechanically sound and will not leave you stranded--these Mercedes diesels go forever!
