Here is an exceptional two owner, 1985 300CD Turbo Diesel with 73,800 miles on the clock. I have owned the vehicle since August 2010 which I purchased on Ebay with 48,000 miles on the clock; I still have a copy of the original Ebay listing.
Since taking ownership I have serviced the vehicle regularly and spent approx. US$9000.00 including a set of Michelin Tyres at 60,000 miles. I have receipts for all of the work carried out on the vehicle since I purchased it. The vehicle looks as good as the day I bought it, (exceptional condition) and everything including the original Becker Radio Cassette, sun roof, clock, electric aerial and cruise control is functional. Under my ownership, the vehicle has been driven less than 4,500 miles per year and is always garaged. In order for me to maintain my current collector's car insurancefor the insured amount of US$ 20,000.00, it is stipulated that the vehicle cannot be driven more than 7,500 miles per year and it must be kept garaged when not in use.
This vehicle is fitted with an engine block heater. I know that from owning another M Benz in New Mexico,( a 300 SD, without a block heater)that these diesels absolutely will not start in cold weather without the block heater.
When I bought the vehicle the Carfax indicated that the vehicle was involved in a minor incident on 10/31/2002. The previous owner advised that this was a parking lot incident, with no damage to any vehicle, but the police were called, hence the accident had to be reported. I have this statement also on email from the previous owner, and when I took possession of the vehicle there was absolutely no visible sign of damage to the vehicle.
In July of 2014 the vehicle was subject toa rear impact (low speed) in Houston, Texas. Although the damage to my carcould be consideredslight, trunk would not close properly and damage to rear bumper, the body shop repair bill came to US$3000.00. The body shop (Excel Collision Repair Center in Houston, Tx)carriedouta beautiful job and even performed some "improvements" which has made the car even stronger. I have copies of this repair invoice and certainly have no issue should any interested party wish to contact them to verify the extent of the repair. I have been located in Houston, Texas since 2012 and have the vehicle regularly serviced at "Todays European Cars" on Richmond Avenue in Houston, Texas.
In summary, this is a truly wonderful example of a classic MB 300CD. I have endeavored to diligently maintain the mechanical integrity and overall appearance of the vehicle since it came into my possession. I am thereforecertain that any true Mercedes aficionado, will cherish owning this outstanding classic vehicle.
