1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:
You are bidding on a good example of the legendary MB 300D Turbo Diesel, 123 chassis. Seller is the third owner of this car, nd Seller has lovingly maintained and serviced car during ownership, ince January 2012. A very nice example. ~21,000 miles added in the past 4+ years.
Purchased new at M-B of North Hollywood by original owners Pierre & Kathy Wong of Irvine, A, ho, n 2002, old the car to Aldo Ponzini of Huntington Beach, A. Champagne and Palomino in color, he body is a fine example of an unrestored California car with all original panels, rim, lass, nd undercarriage. No known accidents. Except as noted below, verything works, ncluding all gauges, dometer, lock, ower windows, tc. It is a car that one should be able to drive anywhere. The 300D would make a great car for someone looking for a car that has been well taken care of but for which more care will be required, epending upon mileage and driving habits. A car like this is becoming more and more difficult to find -- fly in and drive home without thinking twice (in fact this is what I did in Jan. 2012 - picked it up in Southern California and drove it to Northern California up 101 -- what a drive it was!). Please keep in mind, his is an unrestored 30+ year old vehicle with wear and tear, y no means a show car, ut nonetheless a fine example. You may find less expensive options on ebay or elsewhere but my reserve is fairly priced given the overall condition o the car, mprovements made, nd mileage. NOTE: Under trunk hazard triangle excluded from sale.
Known "flaws" or anticipated maintenance items:
- Dash has a dime-sized crack on the far right side as well as a slight depression above the glove/map box (dash has a cover and a sun shade always used).
- Seat-back map holders' bracketing have broken and webbing is dangling.
- First Aid kit cover has cracked and faded but contains original first aid kit.
- Small rust bubble on the trunk under the "300D" emblem on far left.
- Fading of color on MB Tex seats, articularly rear seats.
- Hood is missing "under hood" insulation foam.
- HVAC likely needs coolant recharge although it blow strong.
- Cracked "rest foot" (i.e., eft foot) panel on driver side.
- Indentation on left rear pillar exterior.
- Radio antenna extends only 2/3 or so of height, ut does not seem to impair reception.
