1991 Mercedes 300TE 4Matic daily commuter beater Portland to Hillsboro and back nostalgia bomb, serviced at B Garage/Omega— they say it's a 5/10 average specimen. Regular oil changes, fairly clean/straight body and interior, slow pickup is normal for this heavy model but rides beautifully at ~80mph (absolutely loves top speeds on highway). Tends to run cold. Tires from 2021 should be good for a while. New alternator in 2022, new ignition rotor, plugs and wires a few months ago; new battery two days ago. New radiator hoses and possibly new radiator (cannot recall this). Rear wiper, sunroof, and rear driver window inoperable; stereo technically barely works but not really… recommend replacing everything. Neutral safety may be on way out. The usual oil leaks, and a small coolant drip. Clean coolant, no exhaust smoke. 4Matic bypassed, don't know about status of it or transfer case. Excellent and reliable first car to learn to wrench on, or worthwhile summer project car for someone more experienced, and just passed Oregon DEQ mid-March 2024.
