Vehicle Details

This is a 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL "Pagoda" W113. It runs and drives, and had over $17,000 in recent work done, but per below, there are low compression issues in some cylinders. Rust in usual places underneath. Car will need a complete restoration. Clean title, and it's currently registered with no back DMV fees. No hurry to sell, no trades, buyer will handle all transportation logistics and cost.

Brief history:

- Car belonged to current owner’s father, Oscar Garcia Valenzuela, a Career Diplomat who used the car during his posting in New York City as Vice Consul from 1974-78.

- He sold the car to the current owner’s Uncle, Diosdado Garcia who used the car until it was stored in 1984. Reason for selling: Current owner was born and he needed a bigger car with 4 seats. He bought a '64 220SE coupe

In 2018, current owner asked his father about this SL and was given his Uncle's contact info, who told him the car had been in storage and that he was "too old to deal with it", and asked if the current owner would be interested in continuing the restoration. It was then shipped to Reno, NV, where the mechanic, Sandur, at Metric Motors Reno was tasked with getting it starting and running again after ~35 years in storage / "barn find" state.

It's now being sold due to marital pressure, 2 kids, college funds, no time to continue restoration, etc...

- R/R Gas tank, install new hoses

- R/R fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter

- Repair Alternator and belts

- Replace all clutch hydraulics

- Replace Brake master cylinder

- Replace Brake Booster

- Pack front wheel bearings

- Service Rear Differential

- Replace Starter

- R/R Radiator for repair, replace upper and lower hoses

- Replace Exhaust system

- Restore and refinish all interior wood trim and Nardi Steering wheel

- Replace Rear axle boot

- plus others as noted in invoices 1574 and 1575

- Full Vehicle Inspection/Evaluation

- Compression Test; some cylinders have low compression.

Cylinder 1: 140 psi

Cylinder 2: 100 psi

Cylinder 3: 40 psi

Cylinder 4: 70 psi

Cylinder 5: 90 psi

Cylinder 6: 140 psi

- There is only one set of keys to the vehicle

- Car is currently registered through Hagerty's and has a current CA registration.
