This sale is for a beautiful example of a rare 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300E Sportline. This vehicle has been owned for the last 5 years by my father, who worked for 25 years as a factory certified Mercedes-Benz technician (during the time this vehicle was produced).
He purchased this vehicle for weekend leisure use on sunny dry days. When not in use, the vehicle has been garage stored clean.
Services that have been completed in the last 6 months:

• New Engine Mounts
• New Hood Foam Heat Shield
• New Battery
• New Crank Position Sensor
• New Washer Fluid Tank and Seals
• Hood Mascot (hood star) in gold has been replaced with one in chrome to match the rest of the trim

The list of items to improve are short, but nonetheless need to be done - at the "Buy It Now" price the following items will be resolved prior to the buyer taking possession. They are:

• The rubber seal on the trunk lid is starting to show age and should be replaced (see photo)
• The headliner is starting to sag in the back, the sunroof portion is good. (see photos)
• The little rubber boots on the side mirrors are showing age and should be replaced (see photos)
• A couple of the center wheel caps are peeling. The wheels themselves are in good condition. My father ordered new center caps, but the style was off so they were returned. (see photos)

What makes the Sportline package so special?
The "Sportline" was the sport package for Mercedes-Benz W201 & W124 chassis from 1990 -1995

The differences of the Sportline are subtle but meaningful. The only clear marker denoting the car as a Sportline is the “Sportline” badge located just forward of the A-pillar. The Sportline also come with 16 x 7 inch, 8-hole wheels and the whole chassis sits about 25mm (1 inch) lower than do standard models.

The steering wheel is a smaller 390mm diameter model. In the 1992 model the spokes were re-located to 9, 3, 5 and 7-o’clock. These are all meaningful as the steering ratio is quicker by about 10%, reduced to 3.0:1 and the suspension is a bit stiffer with firmer dampening.

Inside, the differences are far more apparent at least in the sedan. This sedan has the uniquely designed full grain leather seats (including the door panels) with firmer padding, deeper bolsters, and slight shoulder bolsters, all with a unique stitching pattern. In the rear, the standard bench is replaced with two sculpted buckets separated by a storage console with a wood cover. All wood trim is outfitted with Zebrano.
