1977 Mercedes Benz 450SL California Barn find Brought Straight to NYCHas been in storage for the last 32 yearsRECENTLY BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE IN THE BIG APPLE When it comes to vintage automobiles, California and the West Coast of the United States have always been the most desirable the world over for many reasons; the mild climate and the fact that many automotive trends started in California. The automobile is the perfect technological symbol of American culture, a tangible expression of our quest to level space, time, and class and a reflection of our relentless mobility, social and otherwise. You see automobiles advertised the world over described as California cars because at some point they were in California or drove through California. A true California car is one that was sold new in California and titled in California, one that has the original plates that are on that title is a true California car the Mercedes SL was and is the first and only choice for a buyer of a certain kind of car: one that married the dichotomy ofsporty yet rock-solid quality, with a sort of quiet ostentation. The R107 was the longest lived, being sold from 1971 to 1989This MilanBraun Metallic roadster is a fine example of 42 year old car that was built the "German way" of superior standards in quality and attention to detail."Engineered Like No Other Car in the World" was not only the slogan for Mercedes Benz at the time but also the blueprint of the mindsetthe company built its cars by into the 90s. Vehicles like this R107 SL Mercedes are major contributions to the reputation ofqualitythat Mercedes still profits from today. Simply put Mercedes Benz does not make cars today with the same build quality as they once did. This SL was sold new in Walnut Creek, California a affluentsuburbof San Francisco, CA. Never has this Benz ventured outside of Northern California in its 42 years of life.
