1982 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 240D Additional Info:

Local, one owner, original owner bought 8/23/1982 at Trail Mercedes in Mobile Alabama.
No rust, an unmolested survivor. Cosmetically it is dirty and unpolished, shown as-is for its true provenance. No Armor-All slick detailing. Nothing to hide. It is valuable to someone who wants a low mileage original, a local teacher a daily driver.
Only thing I've done is adjusted the valves after getting her running, and added Diesel Purge to clean the fuel system. I have added fresh diesel, no cetane booster, I want her to run normally without additives which are misleading.
Automatic 4spd transmission shifts smoothly, not hard shifts, and she shuts down with the key, thus the vacuum pump works properly. I am not confident of the preglow relay, she starts immediately when warm, not so easy to start when cold. Idle is smooth thus I believe injectors are satisfactory. I believe the front suspension needs new bushings. I believe the right rear brake caliper needs repair or replacement.
I am being very candid and forthcoming of my observations of the mechanical diagnosis.
She sat in the garage for years. I have driven her on the road for approx 200 miles, I have not changed pre-fuel filter nor fuel filter nor oil. I want you to see her as original, therefore I advise you trailer her home until you do all services. I trust her but because you are a stranger and its ebay, I have to state the sale is 'as is - where is'. We live in a lawyer world, so there is the legal schmegal.
Original hubcabs come with the car. The bundt wheels were an owner upgrade years ago, not on the original build sheet. Yes the front left fender is a replacement, the lady had a fender bender, my observation is - not professionally repaired; I see used parts.

  • #3 Good $4,800
  • #4 Fair $2,300 #4 vehicles are daily drivers, with flaws visible to the naked eye. The chrome might have pitting or scratches, the windshield might be chipped. Paintwork is imperfect, and perhaps the body has a minor dent. Split seams or a cracked dash, where applicable, might be present. No major parts are missing, but the wheels could differ from the originals, or other non- stock additions might be present. A #4 vehicle can also be a deteriorated restoration. "Fair" is the one word that describes a #4 vehicle.
