1992 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Two top convertable Additional Info:
VIN#: WDBFA61E7NF043211 Paint: Red, Interior: Tan . This 1992 Mercedes Benz SL300 was purchased by me in October 2011. I am selling this car now that I will be turning 75 this year and have two other vehicles and this one is not getting that much use now. The car shows well inside, out, and underneath. Exterior: - Body is also in real good condition with a very minor ding on hood and a small painted scratch on the top. I can try and take picture of same upon request. The Red paint shows very well and really stands out upon waxing. It’s a gorgeous color. For the past 6 years the car has been care for quite well. I did change out the wheels on the car, put a new head-liner on the hard top, and a new interior hood liner, since I have had the car. Blemishes on the car are all minor. However, there are a quite a few issues with the car but the positives out weigh the negatives, in my opinion, by a great degree. The negatives are the steering is loose, the cruse does not work and the dash light does not work. None of these imperfections are causing me any problems and I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car anywhere and I do use it quite frequently. None of these issues have been that pressing to me. I do have it currently licensed, so that I can drive it every day. In Tennessee, I could get an antique plate but that would limit my use. The black soft top is in good shape. Just replaced the back portion 2 years ago and I had all of the hydrolic top lifts replaced shortly after I got the car. I did not take the removable hardtop last Summer since my garage was full of junk, where the wench to remove the top is located. - Windshield does have a couple very small chips that have been fixed by the window repair guy but are still noticeable to a very slight degree. The tan leather seats are in reasonably good shape and are comfortable once you get in them. For a 75 year old, they are not that easiest to get in and out of. -Tan carpeting is also in fairly good shape (could use a good shampooing). There is a piece or two of some of the interior plastic that has been broken-off. Nothing real serious - Gauges are all functional however, the odometer did quit working just before reading the 177,736 miles. The speedometer itself dose still work- Radio/ CD play is functional and is an aftermarket with a remote control. - Powered systems are all functional: windows, seat adjusts, roll bar deploy, defrost, climate control. Air conditioning blows cold but will not freeze you out. The controls for the blower seem to be a bit temperamental; sometimes it responds to your inputs, other times it likes to stay stuck on automatic climate control. When that does happen, it still allows you to select a temperature. - Tires are close to new. I bought them a couple years ago but don't drive the car a whole lot- The very few times I have viewed the car from underneath it appears to be in very good condition. I am nearly positive this car was bough in Memphis, Tennessee and has been in the South every since. Car runs and drives real good except for the loose steering, which hasn't really been a problem for me. Hard to believe it’s 25 years old now. The car tracks straight, doesn’t hesitate under hard acceleration, brakes straight and effectively. It’s a confidence-inspiring driver. - Shortly after taking possession of the car 6 years ago, I had to have the head gasket replaced and was charged over $4,000.00 for that repair. Other than that and adding the new wheels and tires and the other incidentals mentioned above, I have done little else but drive the car. I did just last week replace the battery. The old battery lasted over 6 years since I had never replaced it since I bought it. I had the oil changed about 2000 miles ago. It holds 8 quarts and I change it every 5,000 miles. It does not use any oil. - I bought an original owners manual after I bought the car, which will go with the car, as will as a spare, tool kit, and jack. - Engine bay is extremely clean and well presented for a 25 year old car. It appears to have a small cover missing up front (see picture). For more information, pictures or to discuss purchasing, please e-mail me through ebay.
