1988 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL Additional Info:
1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL21,700 1 Family owned MilesVery Rare Diamond Blue ExteriorBlue Interior
Pulling out another rare 560SL for you exporters and collectors out there. This 21k Mile 560SL was owned for the past 30 years by the Standard Oil family. I purchased the car formy personal collection. The car is diamond blue with blue interior. The car has a 8/87 production date with a 9/87 inservice date. If you are exporting the car, I can possibly keep the car stored in our warehouse for a few months until its' 30 year maturity date. If you are a local buyer this is not a issue.
This car was purchased by the founders of the Standard Oil Company and wasmeticulousy maintained to a very high standard. The car is candidly blemish free, absolutely no paint work anywhere, and not a door ding to find, even in the right light. The car is COMPLETELY corrosion and rust free, with a heavy original coat of cosmoline on the undercarriage. (Cosmoline is a factory applied semi transparent coating to prevent corrosion) The trailing arms and end links have bright and clear anodization on the bushing cases, fuel pump brackets, camber bolts, ect. The bottom of this car is brand new!
The exterior is finished in its' original coat of Diamond Blue and has absolutely no issues, including paint work, clear coat issues, dents, dings, scratches, ect. The paint is a even .42 across the board, indicating absolutely no paint work. All VIN stickers are present, not limited to the left side bottom of front bumper, core support, both fenders near hood hinges, passenger side rear of hood. On both doors near A pillars, on reardeck lid on the passenger side, and on the bottom right of rear bumper.
The interior is basically perfect, with a perfect blue dash, (I've only seen 3 perfect blue dashes in my life) perfect and powdery blue seats with no bolster wear, perfect piping, no seat foam erosion, etc. The A/C veneer is perfect with a bright and clear temperature wheel, no wear on the A/Cbuttons, ice cold R-12 A/C, (can be converted for export) The console veneer is perfect with absolutely no scratches or surface scratching, perfect window and hazard buttons. Steering wheel shows no nail marks or wear. Becker Grand Prix shows no button wear and tunesproperly on both the FM and AM bands. Antenna responds promptly with no hang ups. Hard top liner has no dirt or grease stains, nor are there any center pin scratches on the sail panel from the center pin, isofar as I was the only person to ever remove the hard top!
The soft top is navy, 100% original, and never used. In 29 years the top was never, ever used. The windows are clear as the day they were new, the eisenglass was factory markings and exhibits no yellowing or fold marks (after leaving it up for a week), the canvas is not dried or frayed anywhere. It's the brand new original, with the factory instruction sticker still on the top.
The tires are the original Pirelli P6's exhibiting 65% tread depth, no flat spots (car was sitting on stands) they are slightly hard from age, but show no major obvious cracking issues. They have all factory wheel weights. These tires have never been off the rims. The original spare has never been used, and has the original lug plug installed, as well as the factory thread sealant on the spare tire hold down. The spare well hasabsolutely no moisture retention.
The stainless is excellent, no scratches, dents, dings, ect. The bumpers show as new, not even license plate bolt indentations on the front bumper. All rubber on the car is great, still supple, no cracks, delamination of the rubber/webbing at the rear viewmirror areas. The glass is all original with noscratches, or any other defects.
The car runs and drives as new, not a bulbextinguished anywhere. Cruise control holds speed as it should, and holds acceleration on cruise well. HVAC all works properly with all blend doors actuating properly. The car starts right up without a hint of smoke on start up, settles into a smooth idle, A/Ccycles well, cools very well. Heat is hot. The car holds the road well, stops verywith no pulsation or pulling. Thetransmission shifts swiftly into gear with no whining, propellor shaft vibration, ect.
This car has had extensive and excellent maintenance per Mercedes internalinvoices, all oil changereceipts, dealer invoices, everyregistration, stamped maintenancelog, window sticker, selling invoice,protect-o-plate, all hangtags, manuals, 3 original keys, valet keys. The car has aperfectcarfax andauto check. There is a minor easily explainable and rectifiable blunder on the carfax, when the car changed ownership from Standard Oil to the family in the 90's the last service shows 18k miles, and when they transferred the title, the office clerk asked a family member themiles on the car, and they over assumed, at 21k, the car was then serviced a few monthslater, at 18k miles. It isobvious because the lull is a few months, not years. I have those invoices and is quiteinconsequential as it is quite obvious, and the service records back it up.
The carhad a very recent extensive and quite expensive major service, including all engine gaskets, timing chain and guides were replaced purely as a precautionary measure. The injectors were serviced, all fluids exchanged, calipers rebuilt. The motor mounts were replaced as well as all subframe bushings. These simply are consumablescommensurate with age and not mileage.
There is nothing to do to this blue chip quality 560, it is amongst the finest inexistance, offered at a realistic price that makes sense, unless these 45k+ dollar 560's with similar mileage and nopreventativemaintenance completed that we see week after week oneBay, notselling. I priced this car to sell, and sell it will. The first person to see the car will buy it. If you come look at the car, and find something mis described, I'd be happy toconsider less. You'd be hard pressed to find anything not as described, so I'd assume the car will sell exactly for what I am asking. You will not find a finely detailed pig in lipstick here, just a "real" 100% 560SL that sets the bar for condition. No, Ididn't spend 2 weeks cleaning the cosmoline off the bottom of the car. This car is as delivered.
This car is for sale locally and auction can be ended at anytime.
I've hopefullyanswered any and all questions. I have a reputation for sellingonly the highest quality R107's, insofar as I travel the countryscouting fine, low mileage, good color combination 560's.
Dealers, International buyers are welcome to buy. I can assist with shipping insofar is that is what I do.
