For sale here is a 1965 Mercedes Benz 230SL Pagoda. This one is an extremely desirable model due to the fact that it is a manual transmission car, it has A/C as well as a hardtop and soft top in great condition. Beautiful and rare, red on red combination with a bit over 84k miles on the odometer. The car runs, drives and stops quite well. However, it needs to be gone thru before taking a long trip due to the fact that it has not been driven much in the last couple of years. Obviously, the car needs cosmetic attention as most of the rubber seals are dry and need replacing, the paint is beginning to "flake" in a few spots; but overall, it is quite nice and solid. The steering wheel is not original and the shifter needs the bushing replacement kit but it still shifts fine.
I have included an image of the current Haggerty valuation on the car so buyers can make an educated decision amongst all of the choices available on this site as well as others. I would consider the car to be at the "average" value in its current condition. But even assuming that we rate this car as a #4(Fair condition) at a base price of $42,200; by the time you add $4500 for the hardtop, +10% for the 4-speed transmission, +15% for the A/C; the car is worth well over $55K or $65K with all of the options if we rate it as a #3 car. That number still leaves plenty of room to be able to calculate how much the car would be worth after spending some additional money to bring it to the next level; meaning that either way, it is worth your investment. The bottom line is that you cannot go wrong when you purchase an appreciating asset.
However, I am offering the car with an extremely affordable Buy Now price for those of you who dislike the suspense of a drawn out auction. I recommend an inspection in person or you are welcome to send an agent on your behalf as there are no hidden agendas here. The pictures speak for themselves. Just an honest 53 year old car needing some attention to make it great again.
I will sell worldwide and store the car for a reasonable period of time until buyer makes proper shipping arrangements. I will release the car and documents after funds have cleared the bank. The car is also being offered for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction without prior notice. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and I will do my best to reply as soon as possible. Happy bidding!
