1983 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Additional Info:

This is a Navy Blue 1983 Mercedes 240D MANUAL transmission- owned by my family since 1984. Its served us well but time for it to find a new home. I'm selling this for my parents. Car is located in St. Petersburg, FL.
The car was maintained most of its life by Pepe Motors in White Plains, NY and we have never had any problems mechanically. My mom drove it- she's not a race car driver so the vehicle was babied. The transmission and clutch work perfectly. Tires have plenty of tread. Glow plugs ignite perfectly and car never has starting issues. Interior is prob an 9 out of 10- no major flaws. Dash has no cracks and wood is like new. It has always been garaged. Power sunroof works.
Now the bad:Steering wheel has play. Likely needs a new box. Dampers are fine but the nut on the box has been adjusted to the max according to local MB mechanic. It could be the coupler but usually the 2 go hand in hand. I would replace both. its not the hardest job but it can be a bitch to do alone. I've doesn it on my other MB cars.
AC- doesn't work- compressor is fine- someone needs to diagnose it and repair it. Heater is fine.
Body is in good condition but paint has faded since its deep blue years are gone. There is some surface rust on two panels and a dent on one of the rear doors. The worst rust is shown in the pictures. I would say this is where you're going to need the work. Or just use it as a workhorse. Body is a 5 out of 10.
The window switches work at the doors but one of them needs to be replaced at the console. I might or might not fix it. Its not expensive. Vacuum door locks work except for back door...probably a frayed line since the others work. Common problem. Not sure its worth fixing.
