1993 Mazda MX-6 LS Additional Info:
This is my '93 Mazda Mx-6 LS. This is one of the most well kept, well sorted and turn key Mx-6's you'll find. If you've ever searched for one, you already understand how frustrating it is just to find a clean one. Then looking for the right options, no rust, and don't forget one without a tan interior. Seems like a pretty tough task for a 24 year old Mazda you never see on the roads. Well, I'm here presenting to you that very car.
I bought this car in Sandy Springs, GA back in 2013. I searched nation wide for a car which existed outside of the rust belt, with nice paint, needing no major body work. It took 18 months but I finally found this. I had another '93 LS which had been in the northern ohio area and it was severely rusted. It had a beautiful interior and many nice parts. I swapped everything over, replacing all wear items, and cleaning every part along the way. This car has been complete since mid 2014 and has been parked in my heated garage ever since. Lets get into the good stuff:
Chassis: 100% Rust free. I mean NEVER seen rock salt. It has never been wrecked, painted, or repaired. It does have a fair share of door dings, and some scratches. The bottom of the car is so clean you eat off of it. Most of the Zinc coating on the bolts still exists. The hood and trunk are from my old car, as I prefer no spoiler, however the original trunk lid with spoiler can be included for no cost. The paint is excellent for a 24 year old car. They don't paint cars like this anymore. The paint on the hood is not as nice as the rest of the car but still looks great. Of the notable blemishes: some scuffs along the bottom of the front bumper, a larger than door ding dent behind drivers door-very shallow and about 2.5" long, one 4" long scratch on the drivers door mirror, rear window trim has typical fading. The chassis has approx 200K however the odometer shows 185K. I find this slightly irrelevant as all drivetrain, suspension, brakes and wear items have been replaced.
Drivetrain: JDM KL-ZE Engine with 90K miles(rated 200bhp). I put 30k of that on myself. 30k ago the engine was completely resealed, new mazda timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, valve cover gaskets. New plugs, wires, oil filter cooler O-ring as well. Leaks NOTHING. Does not burn, use, or consume fluid of any kind. Has authentic hotshot Gen-5 Headers, JDM Throttle body boot with resonator, and a short intake pipe. Borla exhaust with a test pipe gives this a super smooth and quiet sound that has NO drone. The transmission is from a Probe GT with the 4.39 Final drive, has been completely rebuilt with a Quaife limited slip differential installed. Shifts PERFECT. Does not grind, pop out of gear, or make any unusual noises. Engine mounts have been filled to reduce wheel hop and increase mount life without increasing engine vibration to the chassis.
Suspension/Brakes. Brand new K-sport Pro Coilovers with under 500 miles on them. Addco rear sway bar, no-name rear strut tower brace. This car is STIFF. To be honest, its probably too stiff for my liking. It handles and reacts even better than you'd think. You cannot overdrive this car. Brakes are 2003-2005 Mazda 6 in the front which have a larger rotor and caliper. Centric blank rotors and EBC pads. Stops great, but they aren't so over powering that it wants to lock up the wheels without unnecessary brake pedal pressure.
Interior and Aesthetics: Complete black leather interior is in phenomenal condition. The drivers seat shows some wear on the outside bolster, however in my experience the wear is FAR less than most of these have. No rips, tears, or repairs. The drivers seat has been converted to manual using 100% Factory parts, which is about 25lbs lighter. There is one tear on the headliner which occurred during installation above the passenger B-pilar. The dash, trim, door panels are all in outstanding condition with no cracked, broken, or missing pieces. The stainless M-edition door scuff plates are in near perfect shape, as is the mazda6 factory shift knob, factory shift boot and even pedal pads. No major wear on the steering wheel either. This car has an older Alpine single-din head unit which works perfectly. Power antenna works perfect. Sunroof works great and does not leak. The car is also equipped with M-edition all red factory taillights.
Wheels/Tires: This car has a VERY rare set of Kosei K1 16x7.5 Wheels in a factory anthracite color. No bends, cracks or repairs. One wheel has VERY minor curb rash. All 4 wheels still have their stickered logos. Tires are Dunlop Direzza Star Spec 225/50/16 with 95% tread left.
Other notables:Being a '93 this is the lightest year available for the 2nd generation Mx-6 as it has no passenger side airbag. This car also does NOT have ABS. Has a Miata Battery which is much lighter than the 58 series it came with. The AC needs to be charged but did hold vacuum. The airbag light is on due to a faulty SRS control module, a common issue for the 1993 Model year cars.
You'll be hard pressed to find another car in similar condition, that drives as nice as this does. I'm confident that you can drive this car anywhere, for any reason, at any time. I'm an avid collector and I just have too many cars and not enough garage space. I refuse to let this sit in my garage and collect dust when it could be enjoyed on some country back roads. As much as this pains me, I have to let something go. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I'm happy to assist shipping/delivery for the right buyer. Thanks for your time! -Eric
