1983 Mazda RX-7 Black Additional Info:
Wonderful car to restore!!! The premise is that you always start with the best example that you can find... and you will never likely find a better basic car, but it has been sitting for awhile. The battery was new when It was bought, but is gone now and it is out of gasoline. The basic car is excellent with no signs of bodywork or repaired damage and no filler anywhere, once the hood is replaced, it is solid. There is none of the body rust that one would expect anywhere. You want a fine example of an RX-7 in its best years? This is the one.
The seats are very nice per the pictures and the carpet is good except carpet on the rear shelf was shot and I removed it. It was driven to this spot, but must be transported, tuned, and a new battery. It turned and ran fine last I tried. Tires are all basically new, replaced when I bought it, but they my be flat spotted from not running. I do not know. The engine has only 52k miles like the car, of course, and the replacement engine is like new also. I forgot how many miles, but less than 50k. We did our basic testing and drove the car to the Ohio State University Automotive Test Center about 2000 miles round trip, Then I drove the car rarely just to keep it good. I paid $5k for it. The radiator blew and the alternator went and required replacement, but it is solid.
It needs new paint with lots of fade now, but you would be way ahead starting with this car than buying another with normal mileage and wear. This is a creampuff car to restore. The door panels look good, but the door sills are cracked from sun. Headliner looks good Check out that dash, nice! Notice that the original brake and clutch pedals pads show no wear... as you would expect with 52k miles.
