VIN 115 152makes this the 76th car built. First sold inEurope with kilometer per hour speedometer, Euro side marker lights and no emission controls.
All original drive train and good compression in all cylinders. Mechanical service at JML Maserati specialist in Santa Barbara a few years ago included rebuilding the 4 Weber carburetors, new spark plugs, fuel filter, fuse block cover, coolant hoses, rebuild brake calipers and master cylinder, new clutch master cylinder, rebuild steering box, new brake boosters, new brake hoses, and some driveline components. Recently had the starter rebuilt and put in anew battery. Recently rebuilt the brake master cylinder and repaired the connection for the coolant gauge. The car starts, runs and drives very well. Pirelli tires look like new.
Please note this is not a 99 point show car, it is a condition 3 or 4 (“good” not excellent) weekend driver. Sometime along the way it was painted red, the original color appears to be medium blue. The paint has been resprayed in the last few years, there are no drips or thin spots, but there are some orange peel areas where some color sanding could improve the appearance. There are one or two small oil leaks at the front of the engine, these are gaskets that are difficult to replace without pulling the engine out of the car. The clutch has been replaced and is in good condition, although it may need adjustment, its difficult to put the car in reverse without shutting off the engine and then starting up again. The car has been in places that get snow before and has had minor rust and professional rust repair. There is no visible rust in the red painted areas although there is surface rust under the car. No holes in the floorboards and the interior is original other than new carpet, seats are OK with no rips or tears but seats show typical use and seat bottoms could use new foam rubber. The original radio is missing and I have not tried to make the heater work. The speedometer bounces around, typical for the old Smiths gauges.
While the car could be a candidate for complete restoration it is presentable as is and we have had it in the Concorso Italiano during Monterey car week several times, the Woodly Park Italian show days, and local cars and coffee events.
