1969 Lotus Elan S4 DHC (drop head coupe) “type 45” very complete project car with 27K miles. Matching numbers engine turns over (not frozen) and ran fine 15 years ago, but engine is currently “out of car” on a rolling engine stand. All engine parts and ancillaries come with the car in order to put together again and back into the car relatively straight forward. You should not consider this a basket-case project, but rather a partially disassembled car (just the engine out).
Prior aging owner with Alzheimer’s was attempting some minor soft restoration work and left it in this condition since 2001. There may have been a transmission repair needed as the reason for the engine removal, but this cannot be verified due to owner’s health issues. Car was stored/parked in dry storage all these years.
Equipped with Colin Chapman signature steering wheel. No rear antenna installed, but has vintage AM/FM 8-track player in dash. Interior complete, some cracking of dash veneer starting. Driver seat is nice, but passenger seat is stripped down to the springs. I have a complete set/pair of new old stock original material seat coverings that come with the car. Car has older repaint and I can see both yellow and blue paint underneath. Car is straight and no apparent damage or repairs evident. Paint is dull, but could be buffed/polished and kept as is, and presents itself pretty well. Has optional accessory luggage rack on rear trunk lid.
Comes with new Dunlop spare in trunk, jack, ratchet, lug tool and lead hammer. Interior has original dash board, nice dash pad, and nice center console as well. Car needs either a total restoration, or a good candidate for a soft restoration, putting engine back in and get in running order and drive as is.
Car rolls freely. Check pictures very carefully. What you see is what you get. Comes with clear open title in my name.
Please remember that this is an "antique" vehicle 47 years old. It needs restoration and is consistent with a vehicle with this mileage, age and use. Car is available for pre-bid inspections and I would always encourage and welcome this. I am proud of my 100% excellent feedback score and always try to give accurate descriptions so that there are no surprises or disappointments. I am open and receptive torealisticoffers considering all that is included.
Those with less than ten (10) or negative feedback history do NOT bid unless you contact me and communicate first, otherwise your bids will be retracted and bidder banned from further bidding. The winning bid is NOT a right of first refusal, but a commitment to purchase the vehicle regardless of anything, so a non-refundable deposit via PayPal is required within 24 hours of auction ending and arrangements to be made for pickup of item. Vehicle is listed "for sale" by other venues and media, so I reserve the right to terminate the listing at any time.
Will sell world-wide, but any and all shipping/transport arrangements to be made and paid for by winning bidder/buyer.
