1972 Lincoln Mark Series Additional Info:
An exceptionally well preserved dry climate(SW Utah) survivor recently re-commissioned out of long dry storage. A 66,000 original miles time capsule car that is ready to please.Truly rust free, straight body. Note small dent at RF wheel opening. Nice chrome and trim.
Beautiful, still soft leather interior, un-cracked dash, clean carpets.Massive 460 engine is smooth, quiet and effortlessly pulls this big car. Transmission shifts perfectly.
Re-commissioning work performed for roadworthy status consisted of fresh fluids and filters everywhere, engine oil, transmission, coolant and brake fluid has been flushed. ALL coolant hoses and belts were replaced with new, the carburetor overhauled, ignition tune up, brake master cylinder replaced and some new suspension bushings.Shock absorbers are new Monroe units, the car glides gently down the road.
While a leaking timing cover gasket was being replaced the cam timing set was replaced with the earlier style "straight up" pre-smog version. This is a well know improvement to this early smog era engine.
This car still retains its original Ford script muffler in good condition as installed at the factory. The tail pipe has some holes, it is not loud but a new over axle pipe and resonator will make it whisper quiet again. The "Sure-Track" rear anti lock system was leaking so deleted, its components are included with the sale should you wish to restore it. The original AM radio with stereo 8 track tape player remains, only static on the radio, the tape player is untested. Remarkably, the power antenna works just fine, more testimony to life in a dry climate. The clock needs cleaning, it runs with a tap.The A/C clutch has stuck from years of standing so the belt to the compressor was not installed, it is assumed the system will need, at a minimum, to be evacuated and recharged.Rear power windows will need some attention, both motors run but only one window moves. Fronts work fine. You will be hard pressed to find a more original and well preserved example of this first and most desirable year of the later Mark IV series.Comes with the original owner's manuals, a copy of the window sticker (9,904 1972 dollars!) and a build sheet found beneath the seat. Driven locally since re-commissioning and it gets better with every mile. Great car with nothing to hide and only a few needs.INSPECTIONS ARE ENCOURAGED, see and know what you are buying.
