For sale, 1957 Land Rover Series 1, 86”, California car, Black plate
Here we have for sale an iconic Land Rover short wheel base, 86”. Early Land Rovers are now coming into their own in the market place, and values are on the rise. Here is your chance to own a fine example that needs final assembly to the new owners taste.
Early Land Rovers have an aluminum body but the chassis and bulkhead are steel and can rust very badly indeed. This vehicle has a perfect rust-free chassis and bulkhead. I have never seen a better one! Body panels are decent with some dings. Dropdown tailgate in good condition.
The story so far:
The vehicle was stripped right down to a bare chassis. Chassis was cleaned and painted and reassembled. Poly-bushings for the suspension were installed in the chassis. All new Land Rover tie-rod ends (6).
Bulkhead stripped and cleaned. It is in primer ready to be painted.
Factory aluminum hardtop with lift hatch.
All new brake system: copper pipes, rubber hoses, wheel cylinders, brake shoes and master cylinder.
Engine is a more punchy Series 2a, 2.25 litre. More power, and much easier to get parts for. The motor was stripped and new rings, bearings, timing chain, etc., installed.
Gearbox stripped: all new bearings installed. New clutch and pressure plate.
New laminated windscreen glass installed last week.
Parts included: New exhaust system, new distributor, new carburetor, new water pump.
The radiator was checked and cleaned out by a local shop.
To complete the car, wiring, upholstery and finally paint to your choice of color – there is currently no paint on the body.
A really easy project. All the hard work has been done. This will ultimately make a lovely and rare vehicle.
Listed for sale locally so the vehicle may be withdrawn from auction at any time.
A deposit of $1000 is required within three days of close of auction. Clear title in my name in hand.
Thank you for looking.
