1965 Land Rover Other Base Additional Info:
After my previous sale fell through, I am relisting this great Land Rover. It is my 1965 Land Rover 88 inch Series 2A "Scotty". I drive this Rover almost daily. It features the rare optional pick up cab top and also a "3/4" hoop and canvas top set. This Rover is a "proper" Land Rover with RHD. It was a home market model brought over by a US Army Aviator. He was stationed in the UK at Alconbury Airbase and when he came state side he brought it home with him. It was driven from the Gulf Coast all the way to California. It still has its ORIGINAL British license plates! It is an unrestored Rover, just driven and maintained over the course of its life. There was lots of maintenance done in the UK by the previous owner, for which I have many receipts which will be included. The Rover has its stock 2.2 liter gas engine which runs very well. The engine is not in "prestine" condition as far as looks, but it always runs great and has never let me down. It is mostly all stock with the exception of an upgraded weber 34 carb and air cleaner. It drives well, shifts well, and brakes well. 4WD works as it should. I just did a full compression check on it and all four cylinders came back very strong at 120-125psi. I have many receipts from the PO for engine servicing, rebuilds, swivel balls, and lots of other repairs. The Body is on great shape, and is very straight for an old Rover. Except for a small dent in the lower rear tub corner, there are no significant dents or damage on any of the body panels. The majority of the truck is rust free; the outriggers, floorboards, and main frame areas are in good shape. I have receipts from the previous owner for a "Waxoil" treatment while it was in the UK, which helped to prevent major rust. It does have a couple very small rust issues though which is common for these trucks. These areas include a couple small tiny holes in the rear cross member that have bubbled, about the size of a pencil eraser. There is also some evidence of rust on the upper bulkhead around the fresh air vents. This is evident by discoloration under the paint and some bubbling. It is limited to the upper area only, but nothing evident on the lower bulkhead, floorboard areas, or anything structural around the hinge mounting areas. It would need to be repaired at some point, but is not detrimental at this point. There was some previous rust on the bottom of the front frame near the cross member and on the front of the frame horns near the bumper mounts. These areas were repaired recently by a notable professional shop. The Body color is a flat "sand" or khaki color. The original color of the Rover was Marine Blue. The Rover hasa deluxe hood with spare tire mount. All the galvanized body trim is in good shape, as well as the galvanized front bumper. The pick up top is in good shape but it does have some dents on the roof, but they are not really noticeable. The top has nice glass in the curved quarter windows, and rear slider. The interior is all stock as well as the dash, left as it has been used for years. Seats are stock vinyl Series seats. I have a military ammo box between the seats as a glove box. The rear "hoop" set for the canvas top is unique for use with the pick up cab set up. The canvas is a "khaki" color high quality top from Exmoore trim in the UK. They make the best tops on the market. It has a rear window but I typically keep the back rolled up and strapped. The body has all the appropriate fasteners and loops for securing the top, etc.; The Rover has Military style 7.00x16 tires which are still in great shape. It also has a custom made luggage rack on the roof. The Sun visor pictured in a couple of the pictures is no longer with the rover and is NOT included. This Rover is a blast to drive and the RHD always attracts a lot of attention. It is very "peppy" when drivingand feels light because of the lack of a heavy roof. I actually remove the entire top and removable door tops in the summer and drive it. I have driven it on several trips to the mountains, and it feels like a racecaron the trails. I hardly ever have to even put it in four wheel drive!! There are lots of really cool original decals from the previous owner relating to his AviationSquadron and a parking pass decal for an air base back east. This Rover has a really cool look and history. Its not some dolled up so called "restored" Rover, that has wrong parts, and ugly paint. This a well used, genuine early Series Rover that is driven and enjoyed, like they should be! I have a clean title in my name, it is currently registered and insured. I also have a birth certificate from Land Rover. If you have any questions please feel free to email. I also would be happyto speak to any potential buyers. The Rover is located in Northern California. I can also assist with shipping arrangements for out of state buyers. There is a modest reserve on this listing, but is far less than I have seen other Rovers selling for and much less than its worth. **I have added a youtube walk around video that can be viewed at the link below the additional pictures below; please note that the rust areas pictured in the video but noted above have been repaired since the video was taken***

In response to more questions: This classic Land Rover is ready to go anywhere. It is driven almost daily and I just drove it about 80 miles two days ago. Engine was rebuilt awhile back and other than the updated Weber carb, it is mostly stock. The wiring is almost all original and in good working order. Glass is all nice with no chips or cracks. Tires are military style and are like new except spare on hood which is older original tire. This Rover can be used with the pick up cab and canvas top, cab only, or top can be fully removed for summer driving. I also have a standard full hardtop which I would offer in exchange for the pick up top and canvas top should someone want that configuration instead. All the galvanized is in good original condition with a great patina. I just recently paid a restoration shop to repair a few typical minor rust issues so all that has been taken care of. This is a really cool looking Rover and has been my most favorite that I have owned over the years. I'm only selling to help finance the restoration of another non-Rover project. It is with a heavy heart I sell this great truck and the new owner will not only be getting the best priced Series Rover for sale right now, but will be getting a great, dependable, and awesome looking classic Land Rover. These vehicles have been climbing fast in value over the last few years, don't miss out. Please email with any further questions.
