Defender 110 Assessment

A very original and unmolested 1985 Land Rover 110 3.5lt V8 County Station Wagon, finished in Land Rover Masai Red with an Apline White roof, which can only be described as simply a beautiful color combination. It's a genuine V8 CSW, fitted with power steering and disc brakes.Being an early 110 it’s very rare and iconic. It drives and performs just like a classic Land Rover should. It’s a joy to drive and creates waves and attention wherever it goes.As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections that come with age and mileage. It still has a current MOT (British road safety test); every vehicle in the UK must pass a MOT each year (not required for the USA but completed regardless). Which ultimately shows you have a roadworthy, safe and competent vehicle that is road legal to drive.

This 110 is in excellent running and driving condition. The Defender starts easily and runs smoothly with every turn of the key. The vehicle sounds and drives supremely well, the V8 engine purrs nicely and pulls strongly. The vehicle’s road manners are what you would expect from an old Land Rover. The engine makes great power and feels strong throughout the power band. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all times. All the lights, dials, originalclock, wipers and heater blowerworkas they should. The interior cloth seats are clean and show well throughout. Comes complete with five original forward seats and two foldable rear bench seats that can fit six, making it an eleven seat vehicle. Overall this classic Land Rover is in great mechanical condition and operates exactly as it should and is ready for more adventure!

Engine-Factory fitted with matching VIN 3.5lt V8 Petrol (Gas) engine that starts up every time. This V8 engine has covered 152k original miles - which is low considering its age.The engine sounds and drives like a monster of a V8 should. The V8 sitsnicelyin a very clean engine bay. Drips some oil like they all the old Rovers do.Time has shown these Defenders are unbreakable if they are maintained and driven properly over the years.

Service & Maintenance History-Just serviced with a new oil and filter change, front & rear diff fluid, all undercarriage chassis points, prop shaft and U-joints freshly greased at 152K miles. New distributer and wires installed. New choke and fuel lines replaced. Some service documented history. Just serviced at an independent Land Rover specialist for new clutch fluid flush and fill.

Body & Exterior-The Defender is much loved for its rugged construction, simple mechanics, and all around basic simplicity. The exterior still has a nice deep shine and overall the bodywork is great, being an old ‘Landy’ of course you can expect a couple minor dents here and there, but nothing of concern. Complete withoriginalCSW side stripes. Checker plated wing tops. It sits nicely on 16" Land Rover factory 8 spoke modular steel rims with Firestone Super All Traction tires. Spare wheel attached to the rear door. The bulkhead is strong; the frame is solid and the crossmemeber is new and very sturdy. Overall a very classic solid example of a 110. The back right door bottom isslightlycorrodedbut still fullyfunctioning as a door. All doors shut tight and seal as they should. Underneath the chassis has been previously well waxoilyd for protection. Justa very nice clean, strong and honest example of a classic 110 with nothing to hide.

Interior-The interior has Exmoor brown/beige herringbone cloth that is in a very good condition. The interior of this vehicle is very standard and basic but clean. Simplistic dash with no rips or tears all original dials with the speedometer in MPH. Rear cloth bench seats. Center cubby box with storage. Headliner is very clean with no sagging. Floor pans are nice and solid, fronts have had somepreviousweldingwork done.

Brakes & Running Gear-All the brakes and running gear work properly, the disc brakes and parking brake hold the vehicle as it is meant to. Equipped with powered-assisted steering, which really makes it fun and a pleasure to drive for an old Land Rover. Clutch operates correctly, the original gearbox shifts work properly and it does not make any strange noises. All-wheel drive with high and low ranges all work correctly.

If you're looking for an iconic car with character this definitely deserves your serious consideration. All this Defender needs is a new owner, who will be getting quite a retro and unique collector piece. Certainly purchasing more than just a car, as a Land Rover owner, you will be adding to the story and legacy of its history – taking adventures to the next level. The Defender models are now becoming rare and collectibles, as LandRover ceased production of the Defender in 2016.
