1988 Land Rover Defender Additional Info:
You are bidding on a one of a kind, fully customized, frame up restored Arkonkik Defender 110. This is truly one of the finest Land Rover Defenders on the road today. Arkonik spent 10 months restoring by hand my beauty to my exact specifications. I have every single option that Arkonik offered plus many more. This truck landed in the United States in February of 2015 and passed a full inspection by customs. This truck has a clean title in the State of Kentucky. This truck was built with the 19J 2.5 Turbo Diesel motor in Somerset England by Andy Hayes and his talented crew. Upon arrival to the US, with a collaboration between BlueGrass MotorSports and Arkonik, we retrofitted a fully restored 200tdi. I chose to add this motor after the fact for 2 reasons. Because of the 1988 year, it was impossible to import the truck with a 200tdi but very possible to retrofit the truck once it was in the United States. The second reason was simple, while the 19J is a quite capable and reliable engine, I had added the custom Arb brush bar with 9000lb winch and the steel safari rack. The added weight, along with my expected heavy capacity hauling for gear, I wanted to extra push to get her to highway speed. Wow, what an amazing addition. This truck has a highway sweet sport between 65 and 70 mph, she sips diesel fuel and purrs like a kitten. This is an amazing vehicle. I will list full spec sheet belew BUT to see the final product direct from Arkonik please click this link to see the truck on Arkonik's website and to also see their work. This truck is FULLY capable of being a daily driver although I did not use her for that purpose. Yes, she has been of the beaten path but I have never taken her "mudding" or crawling over rocks. There is 90% of tire wear left. There are zero scratches or dents.

This truck looks, smells, runs and handles like she is brand new even though she is 28 years old. She does require small bit of elbow grease and if you are even remotely capable and can change a fuse, then its not at all an issue. But, even if you are NOT capable, Arkonik fully supports each of it's vehicles by working directly with your local wrench as a source for parts (which can be hard to find or expensive but they have them), and for technical know how. These people are true Land Rover enthusiasts and it shows in their work. If you need a reference on this truck you can easily pick up the phone and call their CEO Andy Hayes directly for his word on this truck and his help going forward for any issues! As an example of this, when we put in the 200tdi we discovered that the alternator belt assembly was not strong enough and was popping belts. Andy's team worked for a week to create and fabricate a custom fly wheel assembly that is near military grade and helped my local Land Rover mechanics assemble it. It works amazing.
Every detail of this truck is perfect. The suede headliner, custom heated leather seats, interior LED lighting, Bluetooth Stereo.. the list goes on.
So, why am I selling this fantastic car that I worked so hard to build and buy and ship and retro fit..? It is simple. My family is embarking on a new adventure. We are sending our oldest to college and moving the family back to Texas. Sounds great right? Well, to make it all work something had to give and unfortunately for me its my truck. I have had a life of adventures and I am sure that I will have many more but it's time for me to put a back seat to my dreams and let my kids go do theirs. Maybe one day I will do another one of these, and if I do the only person I will call is Andy Hayes and his team at Arkonik. I cannot express my fullest regards for their passion and their product.
I have 100k in this truck. This truck will now cost you over 120k at Arkonik and there is nearly a year wait just to start your build. I have way more than 100k of my heart in this truck and I am sad to see her go but I know that someone else will enjoy her as much as I have. I will post more pics this week and of course, please ask any and all questions.
My Buy It Now Price is a discount to my investment and a steep discount to a new one, plus you won't have to wait 12-18 months. I am listing this locally and abroad, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I will work with your shipper. I will work with you to view the truck. The sale will be final with me but you will always have the Arkonik team to support any needs.
