1988 Land Rover Defender 110 Additional Info:
This is my project Land Rover up for sale. It is a 1988 RHD model that has had a motor swap to a 200 tdi from a 93 Disco, so interstate speeds are no sweat. I originally bought this with intentions of doing a slow rolling restoration in my spare time. Unfortunately, military move requirements have located me in a house that cannot support more than 3 vehicles. I have 4, so I am currently selling 3 of my 4 vehicles; one being this Defender, but as soon as I sell one vehicle, I will be keeping the other 3. I am listing them all because I need to make room ASAP.
This Rover was imported last year from the U.K. It is a solid truck and will make a great daily driver as is. Also, a great candidate for a restoration, overlander, adventure mobile, etc. It has your normal Defender rust with a vehicle this age, but overall, very straight. It will eventually need a new driver's footwell and both side door frames due to rust. Not necessary, but definitely needs to be addressed at some point. The doors themselves were replaced already with rust free/push button versions, which is usually a very expensive fix that you see a lot of Defenders requiring. The underbody has been coated. Paint and body is in good shape. The paint job that was done on it is not the best in the world but still shines (done prior to my ownership). There are no dents, just a few small dings here and there. Defenders aren't really known for their straight panels. All lights and electronics work, including the radio and dash clock. The dip switch ECU will need to be replaced or disconnected, and the heater core has a leak. It will likely need to be replaced to solve the problem, but I have bypassed it until I could get around to swapping that part. Bypassing it means ther is no leak, but it will need to be addressed in order to utilize the heat. These issues have been calculated into the price, which is why this is not a $40-60k listing.
She needs some TLC to be a show truck, but needs nothing to drive it away today. I recently drove it nonstop for 7 hours without a single issue. I would not hesitate to take this rig anywhere. It starts the first time every time. Comes with a full set of keys, service manual and clear title, in hand. I will also throw in a brand new set of wheels (black steel pro comps), spare tire cover, as well as an engine service kit, as it is time for an oil change. Air filter was changed this past weekend. This truck is title and registered in the state of Florida, so you don't have to worry about any of the Customs/importing, EPA hassle. Physically located in San Antonio, TX.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am not a Defender expert, so my knowledge is somewhat limited, but I will answer to the best of my ability. If possible, you are welcome to come take a look and inspect prior to purchasing. I have done the best to describe this vehicle the best I can, but please realize you are purchasing a 29+ year old vehicle and is in as-is condition.
$500 non-refundable deposit is required via paypal within 24 hours of auction close. I will coordinate you on pick up/shipping arrangements but any shipping is buyer responsibility and will only be released once full payment has cleared. I have been an eBay member for well over a decade and have 100% feedback, so bid with confidence and don't miss your chance to own this icon!
