By 1970 the Flavia was being superseded by the Fulvia and the 2000 coupe was the pinnacle of the near 20 year Lancia experimentation of front-wheel drive boxer engine design. Although other iterations of the Flavia were considered to be more unique (or unusual), the 2000 was a practical 2+2 with proven engineering, ample power and room for four occupants and their luggage. These amenities were undoubtedly afforded by the FWD layout; lowering the floor pan and, without the need for a large rear-end unit to transfer power to the wheels, a spacious trunk and lower stance.
Considered by many to be the prettiest of the Flavia coupes, the classic Pininfarina design conjures elements of more bulky and expensive cars of the era (Ferrari, Alfa, Fiat...) and combines styling similarities with other Lancia offerings of the time. Even similarity with the BMW E9 is evident; TheLancia was underpowered compared to its German rival, though significantly lighter - creating a comparable power-to-weight ratio between the two. The Pininfarina designed interior also repeats elements of Ferrari and Dino as suggested with the large comfortableseats and simple, yet effective, dashboard layout.
Offered HereThe car offered here is a running and driving example of one of the last true Lancia cars, before Fiat assumed control of the company in 1969. The mechanicals are in good shape and engine compression is excellent, with all four cylinders above 130-psi. Offered as a very original car, the interior is very presentable with one tear in the driver's seat and generally better than expected for it's service life. Also take note of the attractive and desirable Moto-Lita steering wheel! The 2000 coupe was an inexpensive car for it's time, though technologically sophisticated and classically styled. This example is just out of a long-time Lancia collection and ready for a new owner with sympathetic aspirations for preservation.
