1979 Jeep CJ Additional Info:
Putting my 1979 Jeep CJ-5 up for sale. This rare CJ5 has a HURST 4 speed shifter & California based since new without rust damage. Original AMC V8 304 engine, 4 speed manual, Dana 30 transfer case. The Jeep is orange with custom vinyl graphics. The paint is good, but is a matte finish since the clear coat died out a while back. I planned on painting it, but figured I would give the next owner the option to pick there own color and design.
I am technically the third owner of this CJ. Bought it as a project to restore this summer, but a crazy work schedule and traveling have kept me from working on it. Therefore I am selling it in hopes that someone will make my dream a reality. I bought it about 2 months ago, and have driven it a total of 3 times, and put less than 40 miles on it. Therefore I will let someone else enjoy it.

-- Things to note:
Known problems:- Its a performance Jeep, it has no Catalytic Converters. So if you live in an emissions monitored state or county you'll need to put cats on it, or register it in another state.- The speedometer works when it wants to. From my findings I think one of the "teeth" is broken on the spine. Its a $30 part, and fairly easy to swap out, depending on our mechanical skills.- The temp gauge does not move, but when you put a current to it, it moves as designed. So the coolant temp sensor will need to be replaced $24.99 autozone.- Horn button is missing from steering wheel, therefore there is no horn. I was planning on replacing the wheel with another one, but figured I would let the next owner decide what they want to do.
- Oil was replaced 20 miles ago, Castrol 10w-30 w/ Fram filter.- New tail lights installed.- Due to the "Family" roll bars, the parking brake was removed by the previous owner. I have sourced all the parts to put it back in, and am including them with the Jeep.- A CB antenna mount is also being included, if you decide to put a CB in it.- Side mirror arms in chrome are also being included, should you prefer a chrome look.- The Jeep has a clean title from South Dakota. Reason being is since it does not have catalytic converters I couldn't register it in CA (it wouldnt pass smog test) so I registered it to my home in South Dakota. Previous owner had it registered CA non-op. In my plans of restoring it, I didn't want to have to have it tow it everywhere, so I registered it in SD to get plates so I could be driven on the road while it was being restored. You can either transfer the South Dakota plates & registration to yourself, or register it in your own state.
