1957 Jeep FC150 Additional Info:
For sale is my 1957 FC-150. I bought this in 2010, and restored it as a 'driver' in about 2 months in my driveway. I hired a professional body and paint guy to do that work. I did most of the mechanical work. Most of that was rewiring with a new wiring harness, of course brakes, tires, steering, etc. The engine had been overhauled around 1997 according to the prior owner so I didn't do much there except for the usual updates: fuel pump, replaced the Carter carb with a bolt-on Solex etc. I overhauled the transmission after the synchronizing ring snapped and killed 2 gears (ran the truck in a parade on 1 gear...long story but it went well).
Had seats reupholstered (a few rips on them as this is a driver). Paint is a beige color (I have the color codes) and interior painted white.
There is some minor rust coming through again...my general plan was to drive the truck for 10 years from the renovation, and then overhaul it again given that I'm in a high rust area and I expected cosmetics to need it. Well there are some minor spots coming through but nothing major. Inside of roof has some rust showing through the paint but no evident rust-through.
Windshield was replaced with a replacement window that was made in Mexico and showed a little hazing around one edge when it was new but it's in good shape. A small crack on one of the vent windows. The main windows roll up and down well.
Frame is good, a little wavy over one rear wheel but that's the usual and can be repaired. I would consider the frame solid. A number of cross pieces have been replaced by prior owner.
I have driven this about 5000 miles in the past 9 years mostly running to the dump on weekends and driving to the hardware store etc. On Nantucket where this truck is, the speed limit is 45 which works well for a car that'll top out around 42...so it's not driven hard. Never driven on the beach and rarely off road (mostly on hard packed sand roads or on pavement).
The flatbed is wood, built by the prior owner (I added the upright parts). Very functional and useful.
This would be a great FC for someone to work on but not have to do the major hard stuff. What I'd do is pull it apart and go over everything, fix the cosmetic issues, repaint, maybe consider a "top" overhaul of the engine which runs strong but after all these years may need some valve adjustment, etc....and have fun with it. Or just tune it up and drive it.
Clean Massachusetts title (titled as a 1958 model because that's what the NH registration had previously, although serial number indicates 1957).
I don't drive this enough, and I have other projects to work on so I decided to move this along to the next owner. I've listed it with no reserve, so bid away and best of luck.
I will include some parts such as the old Carter carb that I took off (can be overhauled), a PTO lever set, additional name badges, and various other parts that I didn't get around to using.
The truck can be delivered to Hyannis MA, 02601 for your pickup or shipping. It can be inspected in Nantucket 02554.
