1966 Jeep Wagoneer Additional Info:
+ 1966 Jeep Wagoneer +
Time to sell the Jeep, its time to build a pool.
We bought this Jeep Wagoneer with intentions to preserve and keep it all stock and original just like she sits right now. For the most part we kept that promise not changing much of anything just driving it as a nice classic 4 wheel drive.
As time's gone on, the suspension has shown its age along with a few gaskets and tires.
The rims we believe are original to the Jeep. The front tires we believe are the original 'Mansfield Safe Service' drive tires that came with it in 1966, the rear terrain tires were added later as a traction device back in the day.
We bought the Jeep from the Grandson, who's Grandpa drove it exclusively on the back country roads back n fourth to there favorite camping lake and left it parked in a barn until the next trip.
If you noticed in the ad description, this Jeep only has 16,214 miles, that is hard to believe but even on the registration and title when we bought it, it only stated 14,117. The mileage is hard to believe but if you look at the interior and the engine compartment you can tell the use is very low. The wagons tires, interior and even the brake & gas pedals don't show much wear at all?
One thing we did notice, even with that low of miles, they did seem to use it for what it was intended for, a 4wheel drive wagon. There are some dings on the lower rockers, scratches here n there along with a collection of dust n dirt which for the most part we have cleaned it up pretty good.
Here is a list of what we had on our 'to-do' list if we were to keep the Jeep.
The mechanical fuel pump gasket has started a small spit-leak at the seam along with an inline filter from sitting more than running. There is a small amount of coolant that shows up at the water pump gasket doing the same. Passenger side exhaust manifold has a 'line' crack in the collector. The rocker and a little on the front corner fender has some dents. The bumpers original chrome is definitely showing signs of age. The original radio is in there but as of now does not turn on. There were some altimeters and after market temp and oil gauges that we deleted so there is some excess wiring and fuses in the dash wiring makeup. Other then that, no signs of oil leaks or major problems. The dash panel area is clean and well kept. The Jeep could use a tune up and those gaskets replaced for it causes a starvation of fuel due to the gasket seeping air.
With a few little details to make it running strong and smooth again along with an upgraded set of tires, this vintage Wagoneer can retain its 1966 patina and keep rolling down the road with style.
Although can't confirm 100% that the 16,214 is the original mileage, the Grandson swore by it and the paperwork pretty much proved it, we were always amazed. If you take a look at the brake and gas pedal again, they are barely worn.
