1983 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler 4x4, Totally RESTORED. This low mile example was treated to a body off transformation including all body mounts, bushings, exhaust, shocks, warn lock outs and other suspension parts. As far as classic rides go, it doesn't get much better than this. The CJ8 is covered in original black paint with the perfectly contrasting silver Scrambler graphics package that runs all the way front to back of the truck. But even this tasteful accent package isn't all.... The iconic seven-slot polished grille, front and back tubular bumpers, stainless steel side mirrors, and 15-inch chrome wheels wearing beefy BFG radial tires beckons you to go anywhere. So yes, this is a standout Scrambler. A full-size spare with matching wheel mounted nicely to the rear. While the design lines of these are iconic, the longer wheelbase CJ8 is a rare sight. In fact, Jeep sold nearly eight times more CJ5s & 7s in '83 than the Scrambler pickup. This Scrambler is all about allowing you to choose your level of open air. It's a hardtop pickup when you need closed security, or you can remove the full doors and top to have the best features of a Jeep and truck utility combined, or install the half doors and have the top on or off. That makes this Scrambler beautifully versatile and ideal for everyone. The driver and passenger get bucket seats that were re-covered at the time of restoration in black vinyl. The controls are laid out in true Jeep fashion, with a grippy three-spoke steering wheel, plus, heater controls and gauges clustered in the center of the dash for easy operation. Under the hood is the correct GM's "Iron Duke" 2.5 liter engine mated with a Borg Warner 4 speed gear box, and a short stalk floor shifter for the four-wheel drive. It's a long established powerplant for Jeep that has proven its reliability and continues to have easy parts availability. Torquey and robust, this has always been the right motor to be paired with the off-road ready Jeeps. Tall gears and a low range in the transfer case give it rock-crawling stability, but thanks to the modern BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/As tires, it can cruise easily at highway speeds, too. In fact, with its power steering, and front disc brakes, this Scrambler is just as comfortable being a city slicker on the weekdays as it is a country climber on the weekends. Scramblers are an awesome way to enjoy vintage Jeep looks while getting added rarity and versatility. So when you can find a nicely restored example like this, you know there’s no need to look further. 19,731 miles since restored. (Validate entire description for accuracy before bidding/purchasing)
