This is a no reserve auction!
Selling my 1979 Jeep CJ7 Hardtop
The Jeep came originally with a AMC 304 cubic inch V8 and the Turbo 400 3 speed automatic with the Quadratrac option. Rare Set up!
When I bought it the original motor was knocking bad. So I purchase a rebuilt AMC 360 V8 and installed it. The 360 had low miles but the owner said it was low, no more than 60 k, (he was changing to a injected LS1 motor in his jeep),New Edlebrock 4 barrel carbNew radiatorNew water pump ( and I changed the timing chain while changing the pump)All new beltsNew hosesNew Dog-leg (correct for AMC) headers with side dump mufflersNew alternatorNew fuel pump and regulatorNew motor mountsNew tuning parts, new door handles and locksTransmission has been serviced with a new kick down module, fluid and filterNew Crager wheels, Center hub covers and all new Lug Nuts, tires are excellentNew brake booster and master cylinder ( the 304 had pumped blowby into the brake booster, requiring replacement)Newer brake serviceNewer batteryNew window tintI went through all the dash, All the heater controls work wellAll the gauges were replaced if needed, The only gauge that does not work is water temp, so an aftermarket was purchased and mounted below the dash. Fog Lights were installed and all others replaced if needed.New radio and speakersTires are decentComes with a bra top, but I have not removed the hardtop to try an install
Body has 79K mile on it (title reads all zeros due to age)
It runs really well and has plenty of power.
ISSUES:
As you can see in the photos the paint is poor. It has been "touched up" with a spray can and looks like it.It has a few areas of rust but nothing to severeInterior is denim and has a few small tearsThe foot-wells has some surface rust that I hadn't noticed till I was taking the photos. The passenger side had a small aluminum piece attached to cover some small holes. The doors have small cracks (like most older CJs) right where the vent window and main window meet (see photo) that are about 1-2 inches long and need welded up.It tends to wander on the highway like most older Jeeps.
Positive:
It starts and drives very well, transmission works well and kicks down and it should. The drive train is now what I would consider solid. Very high torque motor. It is still a bit of a project but I have run out of time and money to finish it.
I have a clear title in my name
The Jeep is located in Northern NM at 87547 and I believehas always been local.
