1986 Jeep CJ Additional Info:
Very nice ROT FREE 1986 CJ7. This Jeep has been pampered by its previous owners, and it shows!
This Jeep comes with the original window sticker, which is really cool. Sold new out of John Irish AMC/Jeep in San Rafael, CA. The guy I bought the Jeep from was a Marine Lt. Colonel previously stationed in Yuma, AZ, which is where he bought the Jeep from. Prior to his purchase, the Jeep was towed for many years and many miles from the old man he bought the Jeep from who lived in northern California and wintered down in Yuma, AZ. Exactly how many miles are tow miles, who knows.
The Jeep currently has 138k miles on the odometer. Like I said, many of those miles are tow miles. The Jeep will come with a real nice tow bar, a cross tire iron, and some extras that came with the Jeep when I purchased. Beautiful Medium Blue (AJ paint code) with just one known exterior repaint, which is in beautiful condition. The best thing about the repaint is they did it right and did not fill in any of the OEM spot welds on the body panels. You can see each and every spot weld, which is the way this Jeep was when it left the factory in 1986. The interior has never been repainted. The OEM black carpet is complete and in phenomenal condition.
The Jeep has zero major issues at all. The engine runs very strong and the transmission shifts flawlessly. I drove the Jeep 75 MPH for the fun of it this morning (to see how well it did and I was impressed) on the freeway and there was no slop in the steering, and definitely no lack of power. Brakes are very strong. 4WD engages effortlessly. The only very minor issue is the oil pan will need to be dropped and you should replace the oil pan gasket. It leaks, but not too bad. Its an afternoon job that I just don't have the time for. The front/rear differential gaskets were replaced not too long ago per the notes in the log book that comes with the Jeep. Also, since this is a later S/N last year CJ7, it does come with the desirable OEM Dana 44 rear axle.
Absolutely zero rot anywhere. The driver side floor pan has surface rust only, which means basically there is no pitting or anything like that. Just missing paint from foot wear that oxidized over the years. The driver side floor pan is pictured because it is by far the worst one, and its not bad at all. There is some very minor surface rust on by the tailgate area of the floor behind the rear seat, but it is superficial. Not rot, just minor surface rust. The photos show it all.
The frame is perfect. Not rust anywhere. Overall, this is one incredibly solid CJ7 that has not rot and no real problems so to speak of. Check my feedback....I pride myself on being completely honest with my vehicle disclosures. I've owned upwards of 30 Jeep CJs over the years and I know exactly what to look for when purchasing a vehicle. This CJ is one of the nicest, mostly original ones left. No crazy lift, no rot, mostly stock. Finding Jeeps in this condition seems few and far between these days.
This Jeep is being listed with what I think is a very low reserve price. If you have any questions about the vehicle, please pick up the phone and give me a ring. 520-789-0875.
This is my standard vehicle disclaimer - $500 immediate deposit due right away. Balance due within 3 business days of purchase via wire transfer or cashiers check. Vehicle is expected to be picked up within 2 weeks of purchase. This is a private-party sale and I have the free and clear title ready to go. I'd love to say fly in and drive it home, but remember, it's a 31 year old vehicle. I think it would make it anywhere in the country just fine, but that is up to you. I know for peace of mind I would transport it, but that's just me. If you're from out of town, I have a super reliable auto transporter who I have not been able to beat his prices. I would be glad to relay that information to you, or assist you in getting a quote from him. Or, you can always be old school.....haul your own trailer, come drink a beer with me, and pick up the Jeep yourself. That is sometimes better!
