If you've been wanting a CJ7, this is the one you should buy. Right now. Today. This 1978 Jeep CJ7 Golden Eagle is the product of a fresh restoration with excellent cosmetics, an upgraded suspension, and a V8. We sell a lot of CJs, but not many measure up to this Golden Eagle's standards of quality and these Jeeps are steadily getting more valuable, so it pays to buy the best and enjoy the ride up.
The only problem with owing this Jeep is that sooner or later, you're going to want to play in the dirt and it's just so pretty. It was taken down to bare metal and refinished with two coats of base and three coats of clear; almost no Jeep gets a paint job this expensive because they tend to lead hard lives playing in the brush. The Golden Eagle decals were correctly installed and it doesn't look dated like some colors, although there's a certain '70s coolness that's a lot like the Bandit Trans Ams. You're going to get a ton of thumbs-up gestures as you drive it and the guys at the Jamboree will look on with envy, figuring you spent about twice the asking price to restore this CJ. It has a few very, very minor signs of use, but there's so much fresh work here that nobody will ever notice. The front bumper features a set of KC lights, there are small step plates under the rockers, and, of course, the rubber fender flares and big spare tire out back for the all-purpose look.
The tan interior is beautifully restored as well, including new "Spice" colored denim upholstery that's pure 1970s cool. There are tan carpets on the floor that make the Jeep feel a bit more civilized, along with a 3-spoke steering wheel that dresses things up a bit. A simple black dash plate, new gauges, and an original-looking radio with hidden upgrades and big speakers in back all help if you want to use this Jeep on a regular basis. There's an unusual TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a tilt steering column, both nice additions for those of you looking for the ultimate daily driver. Even the back seat has been freshened, so there's nothing inside that looks to have been overlooked. This CJ also includes a fresh tan Besttop soft top for weather protection.
The engine is a fresh AMC 304 cubic inch V8 crate motor that slots right into the CJ7's engine bay and looks right. Enhanced with an Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor, HEI distributor, and lots of dress-up, it certainly looks the part of an expensive restoration. Key it up and it fires easily and idles smoothly, with just a hint of a V8 burble from the twin tailpipes out back. Thanks to a Quadra TRac 2-speed transfer case, there aren't many places this Jeep can't go with that much V8 power behind it. Underneath you'll see what we mean about being afraid to take it off road, because it's spotless! The frame-off restoration resulted in a beautifully finished chassis with a 1-inch lift, new shocks, and a lot of new hardware. Power steering is welcome on a Jeep with this much tire and it's sitting on refinished gold-tone Laredo wheels with 33x10.50-15 BFGoodrich tires that are so new you can almost see the tire quills on the tread.
This is a beautifully done Jeep and considering how many of these we sell, it's kind of surprising that it doesn't cost $10,000 more. Don't miss this opportunity to own one of the best we've seen. Call now!
