1946 Jeep CJ base Additional Info:
Up for sale is this little willys jeep. This was drug out of a barn near Alton, IL. where it had been stored for 53 years. The engine is stuck, but I have been soaking it with diesel fuel, vinegar, and PB Blaster for a week or two. I do have all the plugs out and the water pump off, so I'm ready to put a little heat on it and try to break it free. I was going to pull the engine and at least do rings and bearings, but it may or may not need that. The floorboards are gone on both sides, and you can see the patches already on the sides of the body. The rear of the body and the front are both in pretty decent shape. I put later model wheels and tires on it, and it rolls freely. Clutch engages and disengages as it should, and all shifters do what they are supposed to. I also have NEW, the following items: Head gasket, fuel pump, fan belt, and spark plugs. The steering is tight and the jeep only shows 3x,xxx miles. The serial number is 40979, making it a early 1946, and the frame tag is intact. There is no title. The seat frames are ok. Rockauto has brake wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake shoes, engine gaskets, rings and bearings, and a water pump for under $300 and that is where I was going to start. Just get it running and driving and then work on the tub. Since I am listing it for sale, I am not going to do any more work on the motor. Some people want to disassemble to free it up and others say just pull it and pop the clutch to break it loose. I'll let the winner determine how they want to do that. What you see is what you get. No top or other parts included. No warranty, no delivery, and no checks. It is stored inside and may be seen before the end of the sale only by appointment.
