Usually when we tell you about a mean Jeep it's because someone has transformed it into the ultimate off-roader, but this complete custom built 1969 Jeep CJ5 is about teaching others a lesson on the streets. Beneath the wild green paint and lowered suspension lies some of the best Ford performance components you know. And once you look at the price, it's not just a great Jeep or a great Cobra; it's one amazing overall deal. There is no pretending this is an off-road Jeep. The metallic green paint is out to intimidate the streets, not the trail. At has the kind of luster from the modern clearcoat that will act like a beacon attracting people from across the show field during the day, and at night, it catches the light and almost glows better than a neon sign. That's why it has been applied over every inch of the exterior, including the bumpers, grille, and hood pins. The only thing to grab more attention than the green are those custom applies sliver ghost flames. But more than just paint, this one has some great custom street rod details, like the chopped windshield, lowered suspension, crystal clear headlights, and the Weld-style 15-inch alloys.Inside is more custom work to make sure you know this is a mean machine. After all, the best Jeeps have roll bars, but nothing like this. The safety cage here has the kind of multi point reinforcement you find on pro street machines that are meant to both be safe and add strength to the frame. The dark interior continues this Jeep's aggressive attitude, but everything inside is part of a very thoughtful build. For example, the seats are modern buckets that offer good bolstering to strike a nice balance between comfort, and keeping you tight in the turns. It has power steering for ease, and the bikini top to keep the sun off you. There's only room for two since the rear end has been tubbed (more on that in a moment,) and there's a custom rear storage box that houses the batteries and fuel for better weight distribution. You get a cool three-spoke sports steering wheel, and ahead of that is a large AutoMeter tach. Just in front of the B&M shifter is the rest of your full gauge package. So while you have an AM/FM/CD stereo, this Jeep is giving you a clear indication that your favorite soundtrack will be coming from the sidepipes. When you open the hood, the shine of the Ford Racing valve covers, air topper, and aluminum radiator already tell you that this is something special. It's a go fast, 289 cubic-inch V8 that's been enhanced with goodies that include a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Weiand intake, and Procomp ignition. So there is plenty of great rumble coming out of that side exhaust. And there is no trouble getting all that enhanced power to the ground thanks to the stout C6 three-speed automatic, Ford 9-inch rear with locking differential, and the ultra wide 29x12.50 Mickey Thompson Sportsman rubber in the rear. But more than just read about these features, look at where everything is in the undercarriage photos. There you'll also see the square-tube chassis that almost looks like a Cobra replica. Plus, the Mustang II-style independent front suspension and four-link coilover rear are all part of a great blue oval-style performance package that tells you this Jeep can deliver on its speedy appearance.Ford was one of the first Jeep producers during WWII, and so this one is just taking that logic to the extreme, right?
