I've had this Jeep since September 2013 and it's been my pride and joy since I've owned it. The reason for selling is I'm moving to North Carolina for school and don't have the time to finish up the little things left to be taken care of. When I bought it, it was a mess. There was a lot of rust on the body, the engine was running on borrowed time, and the paint was badly faded. It almost looked pink. Every piece of rotted sheet metal was cut out and replaced. This includes spots on the body, in the back floor, and the worst of it was the driver's side floorpan. Absolutely everything that wasn't light surface rust was cut out. The rear and passenger doors were replaced. The 4.0 straight 6 engine was completely rebuilt. Cylinders bored and honed, .030' oversize pistons installed, every machined surface in the block was cleaned up, all new bearings, new cam and lifters, timing chain, oil pump, pickup tube, and crankshaft. The engine has a new harmonic balancer and a new clutch as well. The transmission (AX15), transfer case(NP231) and axles(DANA 30&35) were inspected by my local mechanic and he said there was no reason to pull them apart. Last owner had them rebuilt or serviced previously. Of course I've changed all the fluids. I got rid of the carpet and replaced it with truck bedliner, as well as spraying the underside of the vehicle, frame and firewall with it. New motor mounts, new transmission mount, all new U-joints in both driveshafts as well as the front axle. New rear drum brakes. Front brakes are in good condition. New rubber fuel, vacuum, and power steering hoses. New belt. New fuel pump and filter. Repainted in Chrysler J6 Sassy Grass Green from the 70s. I have a soft top and a hard top for it, the rear glass is not installed but will be included. Bedlined grille and front tube fenders. Smittybuilt rear hitch bumper and tire carrier combo. LED taillights with guards. New clear turn signal lenses. Custom LED side marker turn signals in the same place as they would be on the stock Jeep fenders. I wanted a black interior which was not a standard Jeep option, so I painted the dashboard frame black, dyed all the trim panels, and wrapped the dash pad with a soft vinyl material. Right now I just have a set of auto parts store seat covers on it, eventually I wanted to have the seats redone because the drivers seat cushion is worn, however not uncomfortable. It has a 12" Kicker subwoofer on top of the driver's side rear wheel well so there is still space for a duffel bag or groceries etc in the back behind the rear seat. Pioneer speakers in the dash and overhead soundbar, being fed by a Kenwood headunit. I can hear the radio quite clearly on the highway with the top down. It had a new battery and alternator put in a year before I bought it, and I just replaced the starter fall of 2015. All new battery cables and terminals installed. New oxygen sensor, new crank position sensor, new throttle position sensor. It's sitting on a set of 17" Jeep JK Rims powder coated black (NOT PAINTED) and a brand new set of General Grabber AT2s installed on it. These tires are great in the snow as well as normal driving and don't produce much road noise at all. No vibrations, no noises, no issues. The only exception is sometimes (rarely) the subwoofer makes a clunk noise over big bumps, it's bolted down and tightening it didn't help but I'm sure that's where its coming from. It has a Viper alarm system with power door locks and a shock sensor, you can add a motion sensor to it as well. Installed a custom hand made overhead console which uses a Chevy Tahoe overhead light assembly. This also has the garage door opener wired so it only works with the key. I was going to turn the space below it (Where the heater controls usually go) into a switch panel for accessories. I built the swing-down door into the console for storage, I figured I could put a net on the door and shelves overhead? You can finish it for me and customize it to your needs. I also built an onboard air compressor with an old air conditioning compressor.
I also might have some extra paint for it, I have to look.
What it needs:
Seats redone.
Front sway bar bushings.
Steering shaft U-joint.
Drivers side door latch is worn, it wouldn't stay unlocked so I zip-tied it so it stays unlocked. If you open the door the alarm goes off anyway.
That's all. I'd love to finish it but don't have time, I'm moving next month and between my job and packing I have no time left to play with my Jeep, so she needs to go to someone who can care for her. It has some sort of lift on it, previous owner didn't know how high or who installed it. You could replace it with a nice new lift, add some side steps and have a nice onroad/offroad Jeep, or customize it to your needs.
They say age is but a number, and that's what I say about the odometer. This Jeep has been reborn, everyone that sees it can't believe it has 220,000 miles on it. It sure doesn't drive like it.
