Partial list of the work done in 2025:
Fuel pump and line replaced December 2025. New tires and spare (September 2025).
Removed subframe (cage) and disassembled down to the differential, axles, hubs, radius arms, and housing assemblies.
Following the removal of the rear subframe, the entire rear suspension and brake assemblies were fully disassembled. All parts were inspected, cleaned, and the main housing and pivot arms were media blasted and repainted. Rear handbrake assemblies were fully disassembled, repainted, re-greased, and reassembled. Rear hubs and hub carriers fully disassembled, cleaned and inspected.
New rear brake pads and hardware installed along with the hand brake sub-actuators. Differential assembly installed back into its cage and the lower pivot arms reinstalled with new bearings and seals.
Front brakes and hydraulics disassembled for cleaning and replacement. Removed and tested the fuel pump and it has preformed flawlessly. Installed a new fuel pickup filter and reassemble the fuel sump.
Remove, power wash & disassemble rear sub-frame. Remove & dis-assemble seized RH axle shaft, discovered RH hub is incorrect (from earlier car). Issue with RH Hub - from earlier XKE; larger than LH hu; purchased correct size used hub; refurbish sliding axles. Degrease pivot arms & axle shafts, clean, masked, blast, pre & prime same, assemble lower pivot point onto LH hub, grease bearings & install hub seals. Degrease & dis-assemble LH hand brake assembly, blast blast, prep & paint main components. Degrease & dis-assemble LH and RH handbrake assemblies, blast, pre & paint main components, wire wheel small components & re-assemble. Blast, straighten, prep, prime & paint axle shaft dust covers. Remove & blast rear caliper mounting brackets and clean hardware. Prep & paint sub-frame and remaining components. Drain & clean differential, paint exterior w/glyptol, clean, paint & refitted backplate.
Remove differential flange to replace pinion seal and discovered damage to seal surface. Install repair sleeve onto pinion flange, install new pinion seal & base plate for sub-frame. Clean spacers between rotors & half shafts, Clean caliper mounting hardware, install & safety wire calipers. Install new handbrake pads. Install half shafts & shim rotors, paint handbrake mounting bracket, prep pivot arms. Install rear shocks, dust shield, handbrake actuator bracket, shim hubs & install seals, Tight rear suspension.
Fit, torque & safety wire upper cage bolts, connect driveshaft, handbrake cable & rubber line to body hard line, grease hub splines & refit wheels.Remove front brake hoses & flush lines, fit new brake servo, install fittings, brake & clutch master cylinders, prep pedal parts, reconnect hard brake & vacuum lines.Install front rotors & hubs, set bearing pre-load, assemble & install front calipers, install new hoses.Install new bearing races in front hubs, pack wheel bearings & assemble into hubs.Flush brake & clutch fluid reservoirs (filled w/debris).install new clutch rubber lineRemove seized clutch hoseRe-connect vacuum & brake lines into clutch & brake master cylinders, refitted fluid reservoir mounting bracket & hoses, installed emissions canister into correct position & reconnect lines, assist w/seized clutch hose.Pinned brake & clutch pedals and fitted new pedal covers.Bleed brakes.Install new clutch slave cylinder & hard lineInstall new gaskets w/sealant & refit exhaust system.
Mark wiring and remove two fuse blocks in the fire wall to identify cooling fan issue.Install radius arm safety straps, clean & refit drag links.Final brake bleed & top off reservoirs.Remove wheels & take for mounting. Cotter pin rear hubs.Clean fuse block terminals, test & refit.Refit wheels & tires.Test radiator fan function (operating normally).Check tire balance, install clamp on driveshaft shield, take for alignment.Safety wire front caliper bolts.Tested wiring, found & replaced ground wire, made new bypass for ground. Discovered 1 volt voltage drop from battery to fuel pump due to original wiring, but insufficient in itself to cause pump failure. Disassemble RH trunk panels & replace fuel pump. Test drive & re-assemble boot panels.Drain oil, replace filter and add copper washer to drain plug. Remove and install under tray.Track cooling fan faults, replace relay, repair fan motor wiring & test.Made new rubber lines for carburetor T fitting
Disassemble carburetors & clean components, replace front carb piston (original was damaged and had broken diaphragm screw), re-assemble & refit carburettors, start engine and check for leaks. Test fan relay function. Trace back wiring to find source of no power issue - blown fuse. Fuse appears to be original with dirty contacts which created a higher resistance causing it to fail. Cleaned fuse contact and installed new fuse, test fan motor for excessive power draw. Draw tested ok. Tested fan system with everything on, including air conditioner and lights. System good. Two oil changes since Jan 2025. This list is not everything but what I could pull easily from bills in 2025.
