1974 JAGUAR E-TYPE V12 SERIES III ROADSTER: --White with Blue leather interior, Blue carpeting, Blue cloth convertible top, White factory hardtop, Restored by UK Jaguar specialists, Original colors, Matching Numbers, 5.3 Liter V12 engine with S.U. carburetors, updates 5-speed manual transmission, Factory air conditioning, Exceptional throughout and former stablemate of the Papadopoulos family. This V12 E-Type was sold new in 1974 by British International Motors of Hicksville, New York to C.D. Papadopoulos, M.D. Yes, that Papadopoulos, the father of Autosport’s Tom. After 12 years of ownership, he sold it to Mr. Peter Livanos. Mr. Livanos is best known for his role as part-owner of Aston Martin in the 1980s. It was later sold to another collector in Texas where it stayed for several years and until Tom Papadopoulos once again found it being traded back to Autosport Designs. Kept for a short time by Tom P. and to reminisce once again, it was then sold to and English gentleman in the UK. During this English ownership, he immediately commissioned a complete restoration by Jaguar restoration specialists J.D. Classics (now Woodham-Mortimer) to J.D. Sport specifications. The E-type was disassembled and prepared for paint, while the engine and all mechanicals were prepped for a complete overhaul. The body was stripped, repaired as needed, undersealed, and painted inside and out to a very high standard in its original White. Cosmetic updates include slim-line European bumpers, eliminating the rather ungainly US-spec overriders and the headlights uprated to flat-lens H4s. Also upgraded is a set of deep dish high-strength stainless wire wheels for its ideal stance. The interior is restored to factory standards, but with some slight uprated modifications to improve driving experience. Machined stainless steel knobs replace the factory pieces for heater controls, choke lever, and indicator stalk. The under-dash A/C unit is trimmed in leather and also has stainless dials. An earlier E-Type steering wheel was installed as was a bespoke alloy gear knob. Lastly a vintage-look Becker Mexico stereo was supplied and fitted. The matching numbers V12 was rebuilt including cylinder liners and equipped with new pistons, valves and ported heads. Additional upgrades include a J.D. Sport ignition system, bespoke sports exhaust, and an S.U. Carburetor conversion. The V12 is mated to J.D. Sport 5-speed gearbox, clutch, gearshift mechanism, and propshaft. The chassis includes updated front brake calipers, sports adjustable dampers and further refinements that improve overall performance. It was subsequently purchased by well-known Palm Beach collector Mr. M. Gruss. This E-Type was always been care for in a meticulous fashion, it is dialed in extremely well and drives far better than many other Series 3 V12s that may be available. Well over $200,000 was spent for the complete restoration and you would be hard pressed to find a comparable V12 E-Type roadster as stunning and bespoke as this. This E-type is accompanied by all recent service receipts, owner’s manual, spare wheel, its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and all restoration documentation. It is turn-key ready for its next owner to enjoy.
