THIS PARTICULAR E-TYPE SI FHC COUPE
This desirable Series I Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) is being offered as part of an extensive collection of European vehicles. The Jaguar has a history of ownership by prominent, affluent enthusiasts, and vintage race drivers.
The XKE is finished in a stunning color combination of black with a red leather interior. The Jaguar was manufactured on December 9, 1965 as a USA export. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate, #38948, documents the cars original numbers as follows:
– Engine # 7E 7160-9
– Chassis # 1E 32330
– Body # 4E 23481
– Gearbox # EJ 6346
The XKE retains the factory correct chassis and body number documented by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Originally factory produced in Sherwood Green with beige interior, the Jaguar received a high quality, complete re-spray to its current and more pleasing black with red leather interior.
Cosmetically, the car is striking, with quality paint over very straight panels. Despite the restoration being completed several years ago, the paint has held up extremely well in part due to the cars minimal use. The paint has very few blemishes, with any slight imperfections not detracting from its overall appearance. The undercarriage is solid and clean with the appearance of originality, including spot welds on the rockers, and other locations. The bright-work is excellent with no pitting, or damage. The lenses and glass are similarly nice, with a few extremely small marks in the windscreen, but no other significant issues. The covered headlights and surrounding trim are in equally nice condition. Rubber trim is excellent and supports a trim removed, quality respray. Rubber window trim and surrounding chrome is excellent, emblems are free from damage, and side glass and trim in lovely condition.
The interior is in lovely condition and in its correct factory configuration. The leather seating surfaces are free from damage showing the patina of fine leather. The wool carpets are in very nice condition, covered by Jaguar rubber mats along with a set of virtually new red & black cocoa mats. The dashboard, switches, controls, and instruments are all excellent and correct. There is a radio blanking plate and the interior shows no significant departures from how the interior would have originally been trimmed from jaguar. The correct material on the kick panels has been fitted, and the headliner is excellent wool broadcloth. The steering wheel is in beautiful shape, with a pleasant finish and no cracks. The load space was nicely redone to match the rest of the interior and the area beneath the trunk floor is free from damage and clean.
As a 4.2 liter, later SI, the Jaguar was rated at 265hp by the factory. Previous owners report this car receiving the benefit of a high compression head and upgraded pistons, raising horsepower to an estimated 300hp. In a car with a weight of ~2,700 lbs., performance is exhilarating.
The file of repairs/maintenance completed by the cars current owner is including and supports the care that the car has received. While the file is too extensive to list in detail, highlights of repairs within the past ~1,000 miles is as follows:
Safety inspections, rotate tires, adjust belt tensions, complete oil service <300 mi.
NOTE: Compression noted between 155-165 PSI at 33,273 mi. (<500 mi. ago)
The engine compartment is very clean and correct in its presentation. It reflects the care that the car has received by enthusiast owners. The polished metal components are excellent, and the components and finishes are correct throughout, from the radiator shroud to the windscreen washer reservoir to the alternator and heat shield. The sub-frame is quite clean and the suspension components are very presentable. The relatively
The car is a pleasure to drive. The engine starts easily and is well-tuned, making good power and torque, in addition to great noise. The clutch takes up positively and the gearbox shifts well. The chassis and suspension are tight and coherent, and the slightly larger, 205/70/15” tires fill the wheels wells with a nice profile but no negative affect on the characteristically light and communicative E Type steering. The Dunlop, period appropriate alloy wheels are in virtually perfect condition and are stunning against the deep black, high gloss exterior finish. The brakes are effective stopping the car straight and sure and the e-Brake is functional and properly adjusted. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a wonderful and increasingly rare E-Type coupe. A cosmetically attractive example that was restored to high standards, it is impressively fresh considering the age of the restoration, which is a testament to the quality of the work. Additionally, the XKE has an interesting ownership history and includes documentation from the current owner’s investment in maintenance and upgrades.
The XKE is complete including the Heritage Certificate, service records, Owners Operating, Maintenance & Service Booklet, jack bag with jack, car cover, and a few small spare parts. The car has an impressive list of difficult to find characteristics, and will appeal to the owner for whom structural integrity, investment potential, provenance, and completeness.
HISTORY
The E-Type was unveiled in March of 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show, following the famous 11th hour disorder (one of the cars was driven to the show from England with just hours to spare). The car was an immediate sensation: its specification was state of the art, its bodywork arrestingly gorgeous, and the price surprisingly affordable. It embodied William Lyons’ values beautifully and it is no surprise that the E-Type has become such a legendary part of automotive history. The specification clearly demonstrated Jaguar’s racing experience and included independent suspension all around (at a time when Ferrari was still using live rear axles), disc brakes all around (inboard at the rear to reduce unsprung weight), and of course Jaguar’s legendary twin cam inline-6. The cars evolved over the years, however, the arrival of American safety legislation and the twelve cylinder engine made later cars less attractive and less sporting. The Series I cars were continuously developed, with the addition of 4.2 liter engine and fully synchronized gearboxes for 1965. Therefore, the pick of the bunch is almost universally considered to be the late Series I.
This particular car is a desirable late Series I example. The car feautes the sought after examples with covered headlamps. triple SU carburetors, toggle switch dash, and button activated starter.

PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER
As always, we recommend that you carefully review the seller's background for any collector car being sold over the Internet. It is important to ask yourself a number of questions including, but not limited to:
·How long have they been in business?
·How much experience do they have with collector cars?
·How many positive collector car vehicle sales have they completed (positive eBay feedback)?
·How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle?
·Do the photos show details of the interior, exterior, top, chrome, etc. or are they simply "glamour shots" taken from a distance?
·Does the seller have a Surety Bond to protect the financial transaction?
·What about insurance, licensing by the state, and a local business license?
·Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, grievances?
·Does the seller enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation?
·Can the seller assist with funding sources, transport and out of state/country sales?
ABOUT CLASSIC CARS LTD.
·We have been the same, small, California town for over 25 years. We operate a small "brick & mortar", indoor showroom, and specialize in the sale, consignment, and purchase of sports, high performance and specialty vehicles of all types. We have a particular interest in sports cars and unique vehicles.
·The majority of our vehicles come from local, private owners and collectors, and many were sold new in California. We appreciate that rust free cars, with excellent documentation and history are especially attractive to our buyers both locally, and around the country. As a result, we do not purchase our collectible cars from "distressed" sales, such as wholesale auctions, salvage sales, or lien sales. We do not sell vehicles with salvage titles, or those that have a history of significant accident damage or repair.
·We have sold hundreds of unique, classic and collectible vehicles and regularly deal with buyers that have not had the experience of purchasing a large (both physically and monetarily) item on eBay, or through an Internet source. We strive to achieve 100% positive feedback on all vehicle sales from customers around the globe and is a reflection of our commitment to accurate, complete, and thorough vehicle descriptions.
·We have been shipping vehicles for years and have established excellent contacts that are not only high quality but very price competitive. We do not use brokers, terminal shipping or other discount methods.Call us or email for a quote directly to your home or office. We are often able to obtain quality enclosed transportation (the kind of travel this car deserves) for the cost of open shipping.
·Please review our feedback on eBay (user name Never22Many) representing over 975+ positive transactions to buyers all over the United States / World.
·We are fully insured, bonded, and licensed for collector car sales all over the United States/World.
·Classic Cars Ltd. carries a $50,000 Surety bond to cover financial transactions
·We frequently sell vehicles to out of State / out of country buyers, and will be glad to provide references for buyers in your area.

·We encourage inspections by interested buyers or professional inspectors. Please call at 925-846-1451 to arrange a convenient time.
·As with any collectible vehicle of this vintage we are unable to provide a warranty or guarantee of condition. However, we make every effort to accurately represent our vehicles, and highlight both positive items as well as areas that require attention. We ask that prospective buyers consider our eBay history/feedback, standing in the community, length of time in business, and other factors when purchasing a collectible vehicle from Classic Cars Ltd.
·Minor cosmetic issues/flaws may be present on every vehicle (regardless of cost) including small chips, nicks, scratches, etc. that can be seen on even the best restoration, or even a relatively new, used "pre-owned" vehicle. Also, ownership of a collectible / specialty vehicle is more enjoyable if the owner is familiar with the "realities" of these unique cars.Unlike more modern day vehicles, these cars require regular, ongoing care/maintenance and some mechanical knowledge, patience, and understanding can make the experience considerably more pleasant. That said, collector / "specialty" car owners will tell you (emphatically) that they love their cars and wouldn't trade them for anything!!
